Need input on playing golf with PM

I'm in my 4th week of recovery from having a Biotronick 2 lead pm installed. I was told to wait a month before resuming playing golf. I would like some feedback from those of you who have a pm and play golf. How long did you wait before making a full swing with a golf club? Any recommended stretches? I've resumed daily cardio workouts with an elliptical but haven't resumed upper body workouts with weights yet. That was part of the month waiting period as well.

doing chest exercise after get pacemaker

Does anyone have a pacemaker implanted beneath the pectoral muscle that can comment on how it has affected the ability to lift weights, carry a backpack, and in general how it affects a very active lifestyle? It is going to happen and now I'm just trying to prepare myself. My condition is relatively asymptomatic but my ejection fraction is low and I have familial problems. Can one do dumb bell flies, pushups, etc?

Golf

I'm 67, pretty fit and a keen golfer. Three months after a pacemaker implant I had to have a second procedure to reposition a lead. I guess I'm back to square one in terms of recovery and it is driving me nuts. How long must I wait before safely returning to golf? Six weeks? Three months?

Comparing Vitalio to CLS

I am a 66 year old male trying to decide between the respiration based Boston Scientific Vitalio PM or the Biotronics CLS Pacer. I have a chronotropic incompetence diagnosis due to sinus node dysfunction. My primary goal in getting a pacemaker is to retrieve the upper 20% of my max heart rate that I lost about a year ago.
I am or I should say was an age group Internationally competitive endurance athlete and have lost the ability to train or compete. Like many of you I also have quality of...

Pacemaker guard for kids

Hi! My name is Brandon and I'm a student in college and have a question so anyone feel free to chime in. Recently a family friend had mentioned that she had a concern about her child with pacemaker playing sports becuase she couldn't find an appropriate guard for his abdominal pacemaker. Is this a problem for other parents? I have access to an awesome creation lab with some serious hardware and want to help. So any thoughts or input would be great!

Using an Inversion Table

Both myself and my wife have back problems and we just purchased an inversion table. She uses it a couple times a day and I used it one time so far but just wasn't sure about it. First of all I have had my PM for only 5 weeks and did not try putting my arms over my head. I already have dizzy spells when standing so not surprised to have them again when being inclined. But wondering if this is save for me to use at this point, Did it help my back, not sure since I only used it one time...but...

Winky backing

I ride and jump horses, work out on the elliptical / gym.
I have had problems lately with shortness of breath while jumping my horse and getting light headed. After a stress test it was found as I near my 145 top end limit I start to throw in extra ventricular beats and then go 2 to 1 and I winkyback!!!
It is difficult to gauge what my pulse is on a jumping course but I assume this is what is happening. They are not sure whether the motion of my horse is increasing my heart rate alon...

FItbit Heart Rate Monitor

Hi Folks,

I have a Medtronic ICD, am paced at 55 bpm and have no upper limit. Lately I feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest when exercising and am wondering what my heart rate is. Usually when I stop to take it I find it is about 130 bpm which seem very low for the amount I am exerting myself. I am just generally curious and with all the new technology available this is something I may be able to do all the time.

I have read that a Fitbit works with an...

First 1/2 marathon

Super excited because I am doing my first 1/2 marathon race tomorrow since getting my pace maker on 1 December 2015. Might not be the fastest one I've run but I'm so grateful to even be able to do it especially in beautiful Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Wish me luck :)

Best pacer for runners?

This post appeared in the General section. I thought the Exercise and Sports section would be most appropriate. If not, sorry for the duplication.
I have been running for 50 years. At 67 I’ve developed bradycardia and heart block. I can’t run 10 yards without feeling the shutdown. No passouts yet, but of course I am planning to get a pacemaker. My cardiologist at the University of Washington says I can expect to resume running, cross country skiing, weightlifting, playing golf. So...

Medtronic "Accelerometer" question

Running with an ADVISA DR A2DR01 since Jan'15, the "Rate Response" Optimization setting has been set to On. My question is this: does the Optimization On / Off turn on or off all of the settings of the "Rate Response" function? Or is the Optimization feature only that part of "Rate Response" that analyzes the cardio history and fine tunes the settings based on the data? Finally, are all of the functions under the "Rate Response" section (on the printout from my session with my Medtronic rep)...

Hand Weights

I am a 75 yr. old female & had 2 valves repaired, hole in heart repaired, ablation and pacemaker installed In Sept.2015, all Medtronic equipment...I am involved in a Cardiac Rehab exercise plan at our local hospital which involves exercises with hand weights, stretching, & walk 1 1/2 miles twice per wk. For these exercises I use 3 lb. hand weights..does not sound like much compared to others but lifting heavier bothers my pacemaker site & surrounding muscles...should I try to increase the weight...

Getting back to running

I've had my dual lead ICD for a year. After 2 months I needed my atrial lead re anchored but since then it's been ok and the device hasn't paced or bumped me.
I've posted here before and received good info and comments. Prior to an episode of Poly VT I did a lot of cycling, swimming and running to a good standard. I'd like to think now about doing them again, perhaps not competitively but in some form. I swim a bit now but across the board I have a latent fear of pushing it. Meaning...

Soon to be new member.

I'm 58 and a couple years ago was diagnosed with a left bundle branch block. Follow-ups with my cardiologist showed a decrease in my EF indicating early stage heart failure. I'm not overweight, I ride and exercise regularly, I'm a very healthy eater so it's been a bit of a head scratcher. I had a cath and my arteries are clean as can be so all the diagnosis have been listed as idiopathic which is medical for we have no idea. Initial treatment starting about 6 months ago, was Lisinopril and an in...
