I know these questions have been asked before but hubby has ICD and we are so excited to be visiting Florida in April with the grandchildren and wondered if best avoid a couple of the rides(Big Thunder Mountain and Terror Tower).?Also staying at one of the Disney hotels where you have magic bands-is it advisable to not wear one of them with an ICD?Any comments appreciated.

I got my pacemaker replace last year, I had a Medtronic one. I had to replace it because the battery was low and it's been 10 years. I asked the doctor if I can keep the old one, they said no cause they have to use it for testing. It's been a year do you think if I asked they would let me have it now??
Thanks youu

Hi all,
A question about edema. I recently took off a pair of socks That left a really deep indentation in my lower left calf. Now I know that socks leave indentations but this one freaked me out. It was super deep (thugh not painful) and lasted for a really long time. The thing is, my feet and ankles are not swollen at all and when I did the thumb test it didn't leave an indentation. But when I tried a pen cap or anything hard, it leaves a deep indentation that last a long ti...

said no one ever, but I am grateful, amazed, and delighted by this wonder of technology.
I am a 50yo newbie here (first post) and thankful for this community of cyborgs.
My story started recently in December. Every time I would go for a run in the morning I felt like I was going to pass out. Over the next few weeks my resting heart rate dropped from 65 to low 40's. I had a massive cardiac work-up, including an angiogram, but they found nothing odd, except a few ary...

Hello,
Recently my father had a pacemaker implantation like 8 months ago on his first vist to doctor his pulse was 90 and on second vist his pulse dropdown to 70, but now he just fainted and admited in the same hospital they did a regular checkup now the pulse droped down to 60. Doctors conformed every thing is fine with pacemaker working as usual but here we have a question related to pulse dropdown is this going to be an issue? or pulse is based on heart beats.
Thanks in Ad...

My husband almost died and I’m a full time caregiver... only had my pacemaker a year. Took me awhile to accept but was ok till August when he fell and gone downhill..... my problem now is stress! I am also having flutters or palpitations 🤷♀️ And constantly thinking the worse , that something is wrong with me. Just had it remotely read ... all is fine, no episodes, so how do you stop the worrying and live a normal life?

If I was unclear before I'm sorry. I did get the pacemaker. I was brought to the ER and my cardiologist happened to be working at the hospital that day. He said tommorow you get a pacemaker. No time to discuss, or even think about it. I did remember them giving me two shots of something trying to get my heart rate up.

Hi Everyone,
I was diagnosed with Complete Heart Block at age 2 and haven’t experienced any symptoms or had any interference with my daily activity.
Each year I complete a 24 hr holter and regularly have echo’s and/or stress tests to monitor my condition.
Now at age 30 my recent holter reading about 3 months ago showed an increase in PVC’s from about 4 a day to 87. Based on this my doctor has requested I meet with him next week to discuss a pacemaker, My st...

My daughter will be having a PM inplanted in March (I am not sure what type as yet). She is an RN and I was just wondering if she will still be able to work in the hospital on her Med Surg Floor, being that there is a lot of lifting and pulling with her post op patients

My EP has recommended that I get a CRT-D installed, and the more I read about it the more nervous I get about the whole thing. I was reading about the implant procedure, and it sounds like fluoroscopy is always used when implanting pacemakers, ICDs & CRT-Ds.
From what I am reading, fluoroscopy exposes the patient to a huge amount of radiation that can lead to skin burns or even cancers later in life. Has anyone discussed this risk with their EPs, and if so, what were you...

Once again, thank you to those who answered my question. It's so comforting to know others have grappled with this issue. My life is OK, and I'm not depressed, but I do not want to end up in rest home care, and I know that if I want to choose a peaceful death, waiting till I have to be put in a home is waiting too long - I'll no longer be capable of taking action. I don't want to turn this post into an end-of-life discussion, as my original question was...

Hey everyone! My name is Mattie and i am 20 years old. Yes, pretty young to have a pacemaker. I get reminded daily! But after lots of research im learning that its much more common than i thought!
LONG LONG story short, i have passed out several several times throughout my life starting at age 7. After seeing dozens of doctors and dozens of normal tests they just kept reffering me to psychologist and upping my Anxiety medicine. This past year things have gotten much worse for me....

Over the last couple of days I have developed a noticeable pulse just above my pacemaker to the left hand side of my left collarbone. I can feel the pulse in my arm depending on how I am standing or sitting. Anybody had this before. Feel fine apart from it being annoying.
