Who gets what

Just noted that former VP Cheney received a heart transplant when he was 72? - 73? If a like procedure were needed by anyone here, think it would happen?

Officially a member

Hi, people.  Second posting.  CRT-P implanted 10/3, with AV nodal ablation.

It's pacing at "100 percent" which I take to mean it's making my heart beat all the time.  So happy not to have the tachycardia and/or brachycardia anymore -- it was really wearing me down, and looking forward to having my life back after years of struggling.

Only one night in the hospital -- yay! (Last ablation I was in the ICU for 6 days, which seriously sucked.) Am...

Ph Testing

Can Ph monitoring  be carried out if you have a pacemaker device. Has anyone had the Bravo or Heidelberg test done. They involve small electronic devices to be swallowed or inserted in chest area so I would guess they are not allowed????

I thought I was all done with arrhythmias

For the past few days, I've been having quite unexpected periods of arrhythimia.  They have to be PVCs but I've never had them before and have no escape rhythm, so PVCs don't seem to make sense either.  They'ree pretty consistent when they're present.  The symptoms are either one strong pulse followed by a weak one at a "normal" heart rate (~70-80bpm) or two quick beats (fairly even in intensity) followed by a gap, also at a
normal(ish) rate.<...

new twist on a medical id

Or maybe it's not new, but I just saw it today so it's new to me! It's a little sleeve that goes on the band of your garmin/fitbit/apple watch with a QR code that goes to your full medical history. I may get one because I've been running more distance and become more of a slacker about wearing my medical id bracelets.

HIS Bundle Pacing

Has anyone in the group had a procedure done called HIS Bundle Pacing? It is an alternative to putting the third wire into the coronary sinus vein if you have a CRT implant and are having difficulty in placing the third wire properly ,

My EP suggested it but said it is a new procedure and only a handful of EPs have the experience to do this.

Biotronik CardioMessenger II-s

I have had my pm for three years. In the last few days my messenger unit has been doing something funky. It will go from being green to steady yellow. Sometimes it will change back pretty quick, other times it will stay on yellow until I unplug it. Is anyone else having this problem, or have had it? Any suggestions? Ty in advance

Tremors Went Away with Pacemaker

I had hand tremors that were so bad that I sometimes put weights on my wrists to better eat dinner. After I got an emergency pacemaker for asystole/bradycardia, the tremors abated significantly. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know why this might have happened?

Pounding

I have had my device almost eight years.   The last few days, my heart began pounding so hard I could feel it in my chest.  The first time I felt It, I was leaning on my right arm.  The booming did not seem to match my pulse, but this could have been my poor measurement because the booming was intense.  Any thoughts?

LVAD Article from NPR

Interesting article on something I’d never heard of before.  Those with severe heart failure will find it particularly interesting.

Stitch not dissolving

Since getting my 2nd device, I have had 1 stitch come through the skin which the nurse removed at an office visit.  I never had this happen with any previous surgeries.  I think a 2nd stitch is coming through now.  Has anyone removed their own stitch safely?  My EP's office is 120 miles round trip so I'm trying to avoid the drive.

Pacemaker

When I get up after lying down the device shifts a bit under the skin. It’s not painful, just feels strange. I’ve only had the implant for two weeks. Will it stabilize in time or do I have to get used to it sliding down slightly when I get up ?

Odd sensations

Here's a daft sounding question. Has anyone had any odd sensations or spasms in the diaphragm area, specifically when yawning or deep breathing, say after exercise?
