Living With A Pacemaker

Hi everyone, it has been years since I have posted this and I don't remember where I got it, but many back then appreciated the information, so....

Living With Your Pacemaker

Now that you have a pacemaker (or soon may get one), you may be wondering why you need one and how a pacemaker works.  Your artificial pacemaker is a modern marvel; it's medical science's solution to the electrical problems of a slow or irregular heartbeat.  But before you can...

HOCM & ICD

I was diagnosed with HOCM and had surgery in 2016. In March, 2017, I received an ICD implant. Recently I began experiencing tingling and burning sensations in my toes and ankles. Also, I feel a strain in my neck muscles and pressure right below my shoulder blade. Occasionally there is a some swelling on the right side of my neck. I was told the ICD implant could be the cause for the swelling. Has anyone ever experiene these problems? Your response would be greatl...

Best Pacemaker for Young Adult

Thanks to everyone for their advice to my previous posting on getting a pacemaker.  It looks like that is the route I will be going. Now I'm going through the final decisions, including the type of pacemaker to get.  The doctor with whom I'm currently working recommends a Biotronik.  It seems like a good one, but it's hard for me to say for sure. Medtronic also seems good.  Any specific recommendations on what pacemakers are best?  Thanks for everyone'...

Site pain

I’ve had my pacemaker 4 months now with no problems and little to no pain after the first few weeks.  I feel great and have been very active.  I’ve been side sleeping just fine, etc.

Here’s my question.  Last night, while on my right side, I had a terrible pain and jolt at the implantation site (muscle).  It literally took my breath away for a few seconds.  After that, it was sensitive all night no matter what position I tried. It still s...

having a difficult time sleeping since the pacemaker

I have a question everyone. I got my PM 2.5 weeks ago. Things have been a whirlwind to say the least. One of the reasons I got this was the doctor said my heartrate was too low at times and another was a grade 2 block.

Since I'm fully recovered from the surgery for about a week, I've noticed I cannot sleep deeply like I did before the PM. I used to be so tired I'd pass out by 8 pm. Now I am pinging off the walls at 11 pm after a benedryl which usually knocks me ou...

Pacemakers and smart watches with heart monitors

Hi. I'm a shiny new member so greetings to everyone from old Hampshire in the UK.

Just over 2 years ago I had 5 cardiac arrests over 2 days, 4 of which were out of hospital and one was when I was driving. The car came out of less well than I did! I was told that the chances of surviving one such arrest out of hospital were low, so getting away with 4 and then the longest one in hospital was very rare. Fortunately during each of the first 4 my heart re-started spontaneously and...

New to Club, AV NOde Ablation with Pacemaker scheduled for mid-July

I've had afib for several years. Medication worked for a while, cardioversion worked for a while, an ablation didn't workat all, so I'm scheduled for an AV Node ablation for mid-July.I cannot walk for more than five minutes around the house. I don't relish the idea of being pacemaker-dependent, but I trust my cardiologist who says it's my best bet.

My hope is that I can exercise at least enough to regain a decent fitness level. Now all I can do is sit around the hous...

New here and a question

Hi, everyone. I've been reading and learning from everyone experiences. I have a question though.

I went to the hospital for chest pain that I'd been having for about six months off and on. I have for as long as my teens a very crazy pulse that the doctor would blow off and say I was dehydrated. Later down the road I would feel close to passing out often but the doctors said it was due to low blood sugar yet I didn't have anything checked either time. I was naive and j...

New candidate for CRT-D

I have been referred to an EP by my cardiologist and am trying to come to terms with the inevitable. 3 months ago my Dr installed 4 stents in my heart to take care of blockage that has caused damage that has resulted in an ef of 30. I didn’t see this coming as I just didn’t have a gotcha event. My suffering was basically just tightness in my chest occasionally when I stressed myself through exercise or heavy uphill walking. It would pass quickly so I wasn’t overly alarm...

Pacemaker fitted -- My life is back :-)

I had a pacemaker fitted last Wednesday 13th June and it has transformed my life.

Im only 48 but had been complaining to my GP for several years of severe fatigue and generally feeling like I am 100 years old. (I always thought I was not being taken seriously, had been told it was probably depression etc etc), had also suffered from the occasional passing out if I had a cough.

Had ECG's, Blood tests, X-rays etc etc — nothing

Passed out at work during a meeting...

St. Jude model PM2240 Pace maker

Has anyone every felt a vibration ( almost like a cell phone buzzing ) in your right leg? I was driving to the store and I started feeling this vibration and at first I thought it was coming from my truck, I turned of the radio and the airconditioning and kept feeling which made me think it was coming from my truck. Well when I go out and went into the store it started again , it would go in sets of 7 or 8 buzzes then stop then repeat. I called my emergency room and talk with a nurse and she...

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
