Hi. I had a pacemaker put in in mid December of 17. Has anyone had a problem with gaining weight afterwards? I have gained 7 pounds since surgery. Just wondering if this is common. I run an average of 10 miles a week. Thanks for input!

I've had this pacemaker for 10 days now and it set at 60 BPM however it seems if I'm controlling my blood pressure with medication and keep it around 116 / 66 my heart rate seems to go up to about 62 63 BPM which tells me at that point the pacemaker is just in standby mode till it probably gets down to 58 or 59 and then it kicks in. Is this possible or is the blood pressure versus heart rate thing just a coincidence?

4 weeks in on pacemaker. Have a heavy feeling in upper back sometimes all the way across with numbness under my left arm. Seems to be behind my pacemaker. Am I still getting used to it?

Hi everyone, this is probably a silly question but I am quite new to this. September 2017 I was given a 2 lead pacemaker as a 'precautionary measure' as my healthy heart was beating at only 30 beats per min whilst resting. I had my 1st and only check up on the 28th December and was told the pm was working at 98%. I was rushed into hospital on January 6th as my lungs had filled with fluid and during 1 of many checks I was told my pm was now working 100%. I had to have a 3rd lead put in...

New here and only 10 days out from Medtronic dual lead PM (69 yr. old). After bandages removed noticed 3" round red spot about 5" from incision. Area has grown now and seems to be spreading daily toward lower chest. It itches and is warm...to me an obivious infection. I'v searched here about rashes but have not seen any outcomes or solutions used by Dr.'s.
It's got me worried especially when I read about septicaema. Any experience with this?...

I have a dentist appointment coming up. Anyone know of anything I should know about the x-rays and the shield they use when you have a pacemaker.

Hello I am so glad I came across this club when browsing the web. I had PM fitted to regulate my heartbeats last Wed, still not used to it. The question I have how can I know if there is infection as you have to have dressing for 10 day.
thank you
Anu

has anyone else ever experienced a near death experience. This happened to me a couple of years ago and I even saw the extremely bright light at the end of the tunnel (so it’s definitely not a myth). I was at home when it happened and managed to crawl back to bed. When I saw the doctor he couldn’t explain it and it is only now that I assume my heart stopped for a short time. This is why I have the pacemaker now, after heart interruptions.

Vicious Cycle
I may or not have mentioned that my heart is the proverbial train wreck. I enjoy such features as Cardiomyopathy compliments of multiple silent Myocardial Infarctions (heart attacks or as I refer to them heart farts), Coronary Artery Disease, Mitral valve stenosis (the new one is squeaking and leaking), Left Bundle Branch Block (my timing belt slipped and I sport a lovely CRT-D), a full host of Arrhythmias (SVT, PVC, V-Tach, and the big one V-Fib to touch on the highlights...

Hello I just had this pacemaker installed a week ago due to full heart block. Although my heart rate dropped to 30 beats a minute I was still somewhat able to function but I think it scared my cardiologist half to death so he sent me immediately to the hospital for a pacemaker implant and a heart cath. So far so good except tonight while watching some old Little Rascal movies I laughed so hard it must have increase the movement of my heart muscle and my heart rate while at rest shot up to abo...

The other night I was sitting in front od computer doing a crossword when all of a sudden what felt like painless spasms hit me in the chest and lasted around 5 minutes. I put my finger monitor on and may OX was 95 and HR 85 jumped from 85 right away hit 95. Then settled back down to its normal 65 after 5 minutes. I also had same 'sensation' two nights before that one. I have been feeling great so took me by suprise.
Should I have pushed button on monitor when that happene...

Had my PM/CRT implanted on 12/12/17. New lead fell out. Had new lead installed on 12/28. Felt great the first few days.....but now, I'm going out of my mind. I have had a tremendous amount of stress in my personal life recently and have been probably over-doing it. But, we have a very small family and I have to step up to the plate. Liquidating a 3000 sq ft home !

For those who CRT therapy improved their life, how long did it take after implant? Was it immediate? Did it improve over time? Do you know if your EF improved? If it did not help, I'd like to know that as well.
I had one implanted almost two weeks ago and have not noticed much of any improvement in terms of physical capacity I was at 35% EF and a 140 QRS wave delay from a left bundle branch block.

Hi! I'm Lauren, I'm 23 years old and live in the UK. I have Long QT syndrome and had an ICD fitted 4 years ago (it hasn't needed to pace or shock me at all in this time).
My boyfriend and I are considering visiting Florida later this year. Having been to Universal Studios as a teenager (before my ICD was fitted), I would absolutely love to go again. I am already aware that the newer rides use magnetic brakes which may or may not b...

Hi Everyone. I had a new dual pacemaker impalnted on Jan 9, 2018. so far so good. I had issues with Pvcs after implant. So Dr put me on toprol xl twice a day and back on magnesium which helped me and they seem to have gone away. But last night for the first time i woke up in the middle of the night with my heart racing super fast. it took me a min or two to get it to slow down. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

After having my PM fitted november 2016 I experienced a lot of pins and needles / numbness around my body. I put this down to stress and shock etc after having the operation. All seemed to clear over the months following the implant apart from my left leg around the knee and lower thigh area. Anyone experienced anything similar? I have kind of got used to it now but the sensation is there most of the time except if I am walking etc. My blood pressure is around 125/90, slightly high but...

Has anyone else really wanted to join the military and been told no ? I can’t help but to feel like something is missing in my life and like I am not happy. I believe it has something to do with wanting to be in the military. Honestly, I have great compassion for it and just feel like people with pacemaker surgery should deserve a chance too! After all, we didn’t ask for this life, and my doctor has always told me I don’t have any limitations, so why should the world give us...
