Hey,
My names Grant, I am 19 years old and I have just been diagnosed with congenital Heart Block and been told I am to have a pacemaker fitted. My consultant said with my heart being around 32 resting i should need around 7 pacemakers in my lifetime. As your mind does, I unfortunately typed in life expectancy of a 19 year old with a pacemaker and it is saying that around 50% of people will make it 10 years, so now I am obviously scared.
I feel as if there is no point gettin...

Hi All,
I haven't been on this site in ages. I don't have a pacemaker but I've written about them--a bunch. I used to write pacemaker manuals and over the years I've written patient pamphlets, web content, and other materials on pacemakers and defibrillators. I have a book online called "Pacemaker Owner's Manual" and I am embarrassed to say that it is about 10 years old and starting to get a little moldy! So I decided to revise the book with the latest and...

Hi Guys,
I am very grateful for my PM as I may have died if I'd had the syncope attacks whilst driving or up a ladder or asleep!
It's amazing technology and a safety stop for me at 50BPM...I was dropping to 30.
However, the lump is a bit prominent as I am a skinny triathlete. I don't like it. Has anyone come across any treatment/techniques for disguising the lump? Fillers or Botox or tattoos or anything?
Thanks
Steve Brown

How quickly does a Pacemaker react?

I'm wondering how much of a pause in my heart beat is needed for my pacemaker to respond? My pacemaker has been set to 60 beats per minute I'm told. So would it respond if my natural spacing between heart-beats is 1.1 sec, or 1.5 sec, or would it be a 2, 3, 4 second (or more) pause needed?
I'm asking because since my pacemaker was first fitted 7 weeks ago, I no longer have blackouts, but I do get brief (1 or 2 second) dizzy spells that clear up after a few seconds, So I'...

Hi! I am a 50 year old female 4 weeks post implant. I feel really good as long as I am sitting. When I get up and move around some I get very tired. Everyone says I lose my coloring and get very white. At times, I feel lightheaded.
I have found a lot of comfort reading post from this club but I don't fit exactly into the categories I've read. My implant was an emergency surgery. Was getting dressed for work and blacked out and continued to feel strange. Went to ER and then BAM i...

Hey everyone!
Brand new to the PM community. Got my leadless about a week ago and processing and accepting being a 35 year old with a robot in my chest. Since my surgery I've been feeling flutters in my heart rate. They usually happen during periods of rest when I'm just sitting there and almost always come in sets of 2. I've never felt these until now. I had my follow up appointment with my cardiologist a few days ago and the report said it was pacing 0% of the time. Is the...

Good day, I have only had my pacemaker for four days and have noticed my blood pressure has climbed, at rest to 153 over 94. Also my heart rate has climbed to 75.
I have always had good pressure, but a low heart rate, hence the operation. Had anybody had these same symptoms after your operation?
Many Thanks, Norm

Has anyone heard if this is still going on?
I haven't heard anything about it for years and YEARS. That's not normal in such cases, is it? Has it been withdrawn or thrown out?

Hi there, had my pacemaker fitted 7 weeks ago and I have had constant hot sweats day and night since the procedure. Has anybody else experienced this? Haven't had my first pacemaker check as yet due to the cancellation of my 6 week check up because of the really bad weather so haven't been able to ask the professionals.

I had my pacemaker put in about 8 months ago and very happy with it. My query is I was wondering if anyone has heard of a connection between having had polio and arythmia. I had non paralytic polio as child which has left me with muscle fatigue.

Just an observation. Is this the same doctor who put one in upside down? If it is...and he didn't suture this one in place?? He wouldn't be doing my next procedure.

Something's up with the website and can't comment directly on the post.
If they are putting it back where it was, pain should be minimal, similar to when you had it moved before.
