I've had my pacemaker since 2014 and over the past couple of days I have been suffering from stinging/burning sensation around the pacemaker site, more intense depending on how I move.Is it normal to still have pain like this occasionally after having the pacemaker for over 3years.

I woke up several times last night with the area at my pacemaker site itching and I would be scratching as I was waking. This morning I have redness about the size of a nickel with a blistery little bump in the middle. It’s right at the very bottom right side of my pacemaker. I’ve had the pm for almost 3 years so I wasnt sure if site infection could be the issue after this long? Any ideas from anyone or has anyone had anything similar?

Hi. I'm new here.. Just joined.. I'm almost 40(this month) & I've had a PM since Feb of 2016.. On my second one that I had placed this past June. I had endocarditis and had a valve replacement twice. They put the first PM in after the first valve surgery and took it out of the left side and placed a new one on the right side with the second valve surgery. I've been doing pretty good since having the second surgery in June but starting yesterday I'm feeling very achy an...
Ventricle Only Pacing?

Hey all,
I have my 1 year check-up coming up in a few weeks, so I've been doing som reading/research so I can be prepared with questions for my doctor, and one thing I came across is that pacing of the ventricles can weaken the heart and lead to heart failure.
This concerns me a lot because I'm only 32 years old, so I'm obviously going to have a PM for a very long time, and last time I was at the doctor (which was my 8 week follow up after implant) they had told me tha...

Strange thing happened Sunday night. For the first time in 4 years I passed out. When I finally came to, and my wife was able to help me up. I think I was out a minute or so took another couple minutes before I realized where I was and what happened. About another minute or two before I was able to get up. Than off to the ER for 2 hours. They could find nothing, went to my cardiologist yesterday. She could find nothing doing a tilt table next week, my cardiologist is trying to get me into a a...

Hi all, I have not been on in ahwile. I just wanted to ask if anybody has this NSVT stuff. I was sitting having my one cocktail ( and a half if I am honest) and my heart skipped ( or I thought) I had a bad but quick case of vertigo, and everything got pale! Scared me to death. It was over quick, so I got up and went and did a download on my monitor. WEll, this was last week before Thanksgiving. Nobody called me so I called the office, the nurse took pity on my and called the tech who reads th...

Hello, I haven't been on here in forever. I remember how people in this club helped me get through my fear of getting my pacemaker and some follow up problems. It's now been 2 and half years and I am having a heart cath to check for possible blockage on Monday. I am a bit anxious about getting a cath with wires in my heart already and possibly a stent. Can someone tell me how they did with this procedure? It's my first heart procedure since pacemaker...

Hi all,
I have had my Medtronic dual lead PM for 11 years and mostly don't need it except when I get long pauses.
A couple of days ago a noticed I'm getting 65BPM pacing continously. Battery due for replacement etc.
My question is, given that I run lots and rarely get paced, now that I'm fully paced till battery gets changed , can i run? and will my own heart rate tke over and limit pacing or will it just pace at 65 with a few extra beats of my own ocurring betwe...
Pm vs. Ablation

Hey! Currently in the hospital cause I have afib, bradycardia and av node block. Doctor thinks I should get a. Ablation cause I'm young (33), vs a long term pacemaker, which can have complications. But I've heard that sometimes ablations don't work. And for PMs he says the side effects of the antiarrythmic med i would have to take will make me fatigue and change my lifestyle. Trying to get all the facts and opinions but does anybody have a similar experience?

Hi All,
Just had my first device fitted (a dual chamber pacer and defib unit). The unit went in on Monday Nov 20th and so far everything seems OK with just one concern. When I try to breath deeply (and on some other occassions) I get an uncomfortable feeling inside the centre of my chest towards the top almost like it's in my throat. Its not exactly pain but is uncomfortable like a pressure on my lungs but I have no other symptoms. No temp, wound healing...

Hi everyone,
it has been 5 weeks since I had the spark plug put in as I was diagnosed with 2 degree block. Prior to the operation I was running 50/60 miles a week at 8 min mile pace. I started running again two weeks ago but am really struggling. It feels as if I have not run for years. I am only running 4 miles a day as its all I can manage.
my pace maker has been set at 60, my normal heart rate at rest is 50.
any advice please.

Hello all,
This past year, I underwent surgery to replace a failing bicuspid aoritic valve with a carbon fiber one. I was 22 at the time, and had only had symptoms for maybe a year before that. My condition had been monitored since birth, but I was relatively free to do what I wanted. I couldn't play organized sports, but other than that I was good. Had open heart surgery at 15, but a bovine valve was used. And even then, I still lifted weights, did lots of bodyweight exercises, and...

tacky brady syndrome

I have tachy brady syndrome. I just received a one lead pacemaker set to kick in when my heart rate hits 45 bpm. That is for the bardycardia. I'm prescribed metoprolol 25 twice a day to address the tachycardia. Is anyone else on a similar regimen? Especially someone who wants to do moderate exercise. I fear that when I get back to exercising, my heart rate might slip to, say, 60 bpm, low enough to make me want to stop but not low enough (45 bpm) to kick in the pacemaker.
