Heat?

I got my pacemaker in December 2008. Last month I entered the hospital because 3 leads had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They were replaced but I notice the skin over my pacemaker is noticably warmer that the surrounding skin. I never noticed it before. Is this normal? Not hot, just warmer.
Thank you for your input.

Please help.....

I could sure use some advice and opinion!! My son is 18 and has had an a/v node ablation. He has a Medtronic dual ch. pm. with two active leads and three abandoned leads. He has a mediport on his right and svc occlusion on his left so all pm surgery has been epicardial (thoracic, substernal, and sternotomy). #1-Recently we found out that several years ago during a revision the surgeon inadvertantly malplaced a lead into the left ventricle right at the mitral valve (it is an abandoned lead now)....

Hello everyone

Just to let ya'll know, I'm still kicking. I will be getting out the hospital today. I can't have the LVAD at this time. Something about my hear beingt to small. What? Anyway, they took me off the primercore and put me back on Dobutamine again. Living in this hospital the last week really sucks. Only good thing is that the new hickman has saved me from being stuck every 4 hours the pass week.

I guess they are willing to let me get out of here due to that storm that is building. They w...

Happy Birthday

One year ago today, I started pacing. It took me a while to accept it due to circumstance in learning of the need, but I think I am finally accepting it.

Story: A year ago Tuesday, I went to sleep on the Highway doing about 55. Fortuneately, my son and a fellow boy scout took control of the vehicle before any us were injuried. The Expedition was replaced by a Flex. (My wife still misses her truck) but other than me, no one else ended up in the Hospital.

This summer, fo...

Electric Frank & all

Why isn't there an after market program that will allow us to down load our pacer recorded info to our home computer. I want to know whats going on in there and I can't get my medtronics tech to agree to daily or weekly interrogation (ha ha).
So Frank since your the group electronic engineer its up to you to develop us a program. Think you could have it ready by next week?

Heart Monitor

I have asked before about heart monitors and pace makers but this time a little more specific. Doe's anyone have experience with the Garmin Forerunner 305? I got my pacer 3 weeks ago and have had trouble getting my Garmin to work properly. I talked to the Garmin tech and he said it should work with a pacer. I replace the battery in the chest strap but it still records intermittently. It stops recording but if I tap the chest sending unit it starts up again. I tried KY jelly (couldn't find th...

NCS and tachycardia, doctor suggesting PM

After a few years of sporadic episodes of syncope I finally had a FULL cardiac workup done over the summer - tilt table test (pos), treadmill stress (pos), echo, cardiac cath - Neg for anomalous coronaries. Holter while refraining from exertion showed avg hr of 96, low of 52 and high of 161. 42 pvc and 11 svt.
I'm on metoprolol now, this is helping my HR some, used to be 105ish when sitting. Now in high 80s. Still getting blackouts, extreme fatigue, foggy head type symptoms though.

FAST HEART RATE

Hi All,

This is my first post.
I have had my pacemaker for 6 years, thankfully no problems.
Last week I had my annual check up, the nurse asked me if I had felt my heart racing. I HAVE NOT & HAVE HAD NO SYMPTOMS!!! She advised me I had, had several episodes since Feb & she would refer me to a consulatant. I have been called back tomorrow to have a recording monitor fitted for 48 hours. I thought the pacemaker recorded all data, so I am now confused. Has this happened to any...

Sydney Goes to College

Well, it has been almost 5 years since I joined this wonderful family, and now I am going away to college. I muscled through some skepticism when I first joined, but quickly found that y'all really are a loving bunch. Your support has meant the WORLD to me, and I can only hope that I shared some of that back. Although I am not around as much as I used to be, PM Club is always on my mind!! Sorry this post is so short - I have tons on my mind at the moment, and lots to do!
Until next time, S...

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
