Well, I'm about 12 hours away from 2 weeks post PM implant. Due to being a bit of a genetic freak, my incision site finished healing nearly a week ago and with the tweak to my PM last Tuesday, I no longer feel any pain or discomfort from my PM. Physically, I feel nearly normal aside from the bump in my chest now from the PM. I am still working on accepting the PM as a part of me now, not really much closer there. I am bi-polar also, so am really watching the depression trying to keep it from getting to bad (no meds for bi-polar in 12 years). I just wanted to update everyone here and to thank everyone for being so supportive. I have read it time and again here, and it is true for me as well. I was in wonderful shape when I suddenly began passing out. I probably passed out nearly 40 times before going to the hospital. It was all just so unexpected. Funny thing is, I knew in December that I would need a PM but didn't go to the hospital until January. Even then, I kept hoping that my "diagnosis" was incorrect. I kept hoping that clear up until the time that they told me I needed a PM and that I have SSS. Strange, I tried to prepare myself mentally for it, but was still unprepared when they told me I needed it. Anywho, the world turns and life pushes forward.

Just wanted to connect

Hi ShadowWeaver just wanted to say high and good luck on your recovery. Yes I am new but have already come to know that this is the best I have felt in about five years. My eyes seem brighter and my energy level is much higher. We are blessed people to have a pacer in place and to know that the best is yet to come with all the science that is out there. Mine had slowed to about 30 and I was over tired for someone who was very fit. I am 53 and 177lbs. just what my weight class was to be. We knew 6 yrs ago some-day, well some-day came. Mine is a dual chamber, I have a good strong heart, no blockage, good valves, only-thing that had to work fix was my rythum. Keep in touch, I like to here how are doing since you are a wk ahead of me. Johnnybravo

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
Not bad for 2 weeks!

Especially with feeling nearly normal already give yourself a few weeks and you will likely finding yourself forgetting you have the pacer. Of course it won't fix the bipolar, but that is another issue. ( I like to tell people that I am "Maniac Oppressive").
Likely, by the time you need a replacement down the road the little beast will be smaller, smarter, and last longer.
As for learning to accept the PM as part of you keep in mind that wearing shoes isn't part of our natural selves!
keep it up,
