Should I or shouldn't I

Hi again, this is Bathboxers. Thankyou to the people that have relied to my message. I have been to see my GP today, and even she is doubtful if a pacemaker is the answer for me, and I have asked for a 2nd opinion as several of you have advised. The cardiologist thought I was too young to have 1 fitted not too old, thats a laugh. Anyway, I will keep you posted when Ihave seem another Cardiologist, this 1 I will see privately, as I live in the UK. Many thanks,

Excellent decision to get another opinion!

Age truly should not be a factor in your decision. The fact that the doctors are saying that you are too young leads me to believe they do not have any other patients your age, they have it in their heads it is only for "old people". That's just not so. Either it will help your symptoms or it will not. It will definitely keep your hr from getting dangerously low, the question is if it's just getting low or if it's getting dangerously low.

I was told when I was a child that I would eventually need a pm but I was too young. I put it off and put it off because I believed I needed to be older. My hr dipped into the 20's the day I got it and I almost died. 27 yrs old was definitely too young to die, in my case it was several years too old to be getting the pm and I spent several years feeling tired and dizzy when I could have been feeling good.

I'm not saying if you need it or not, I'm just pointing out that thinking you're too young for it and using that as the reason to wait could be a dangerous approach.

Probably Should

Just want to comment also on this age thing as my wife said to my Cardiologist. "If he doesn't get a PM now at age 60, he'll never get old". She is an LPN who works Cardiac floor with all the expert Cardiologists. This was 17 years ago and I'm on my 4th PM, fresh right side installation 3 weeks ago. Joke of it is that I had rejection problem with erosion started and had my PM removed Dec 6th. Did real well for a month, then progressed back to the old days without PM. SO??
If you want QUALITY OF LIFE, restfull sleep so one can function well, it sure helps to keep that lower HR figure above that marginal range not only while awake but also have sweet dreams at night. Anyhow I'm back to real life again at age 77 although I feel I'm cheating to be able to function as a 35 year old. If you have any questions, send me a private message as I only touched a little on our subject.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
