Guidant phone in

It would seem one could use the internet as basically it is just a modem connection. Same concept question, could you use a cell phone? All things considered, my land line is much more reliable than either. I just wish Guidant had a 24 hour "hotline" for transmitting-right now I'm just sending to my cardiologist's office and they are only there from 8AM to 5PM. Not much help when my ICD fires at 3AM.

Remote check ups

I have a Medtronic and the phone check goes to their 24hr line. They send the report to the cardiologist via internet. They have told me to feel free to do a phone check any time I am concerned about the operation of the pacer.

Now when I am camped in the desert all I have available is Carrier Buzzard!

My guess is that they aren't confident enough of peoples internet setup to use it for home checks.

I was told by Medtronic it would not work. My cable/internet provider was offering a deal to put my phone on the internet. I called medtronic and they told me the carelink montitor would not work over internet phone, which is called voice over IP.

Though that may make it easier I don't think I'd want the magnet that is used near my computer. My luck everything would get wiped out.
