I have just got back from swimming for the first time since my pm implant 9 weeks ago. I have been so frightened of pulling my leads out since it was put in , but tonight I decided it was time to start moving forward and getting fit. I managed 16 lengths of breast stroke, and could tell the difference from b4 the pm. i used to have to stop after each length and gasp for breath with a burning chest. I still stopped after each length but with just a slight breathlessness. I feel so pleased and am determined to get really fit cos i feel like I've been given a new chance to have a better and healthier life. I still find it a bit difficult to feel comfortable with the pm, but am starting to see more of the positives in having it in!
Hope you all have a good night (or day, depending where you are)!

Will do! I am a bit limited to what excercise I can dp cos I have had rheumatoid arthritis since I was 17,but I can swim like a fish, I also have an excercise bike in the garage and have started on that.
Enjoy your day!

I'vr been having quite a few sharp pains since I went swimming (and doing the weekly shop on my own 4 the 1st time since the pm ), so was quite relieved to hear that about the leads! I guess the pains are just due to using my arm a lot more than I have been used to over the last few weeks. I am looking forward to doing lots more over the coming weeks and looking forward to summer (if we get one this year)!
Keep well Jan
leads

You'd have to try a lot harder than that to pull your leads out now that you're past 6 weeks. Keep up the good work! Nine weeks of not swimming would explain the breathlessness. Isn't it awesome how much these little things can do for us!? Like Frank,I felt the huge difference as soon as it was turned on.

Great feeling

I remember the feeling when they turned the pacer on. Without even trying to exercise I knew things were back to near normal. I couldn't wait to get home and start walking, followed by hiking.
Enjoy,
