4 months post PM

Hello everyone,
It is now 1 month (exactly 4 weeks) since my PM was implanted and I am getting anxious to exercise again. Has anyone started doing light exercise at this stage and if so what kind of exercises and did you encounter any problems? I am also a golfer and know that I must still wait another couple of weeks before starting to swing again, but I would like to do something to loosen up my left shoulder area. I am being very cautious at this stage and make sure that I do not take my left arm above my shoulder but again, is there anything I can do before I pick up a golf club again. Thanks for your help.

Sorry about the confusion, its been 4 weeks since my PM was implanted, not 4 months.

Are you ready boots?

Start walking! One of the best all around exercises for anyone who is recovering from surgery or illness. Start with a pace and distance that you can handle comfortably. Increase the speed and distance as you can. A brisk walking pace over a decent distance is pretty equivalent to jogging (not talking extreme atheletes). Swing your arms as you walk but not to the extent that it causes pain. You will be surprised how quickly you will gain range of motion and improved sense of well being. Younger athletic types might get snarky about walking, but it works!

I to like to golf not good at it but enjoy it. I had bypass surgery in aug and pm/defib implant sept. Went golfing with my soninlaw who is my golfing buddy now in Nov I had to wait to do alot because of my bypass, the one thing I did notice which was a good thing is I was more aware of my surgeries and swung the clubs alot easier which you should do anyways and my game was a little better. Like bill said start walking and moving your arms as you walk, just so you dont move them above your shoulder for awhile. Good luck and welcome to our little board.

I had my PM surgery jan 7th so Im not too far ahead of you. The best thing I found for loosening up my shouldnr was walking your fingers up a wall. Sounds silly but I learned this exercise when i had torn rotator cuff injury just last fall.
Stand sideways to the wall and just walk up with your fingers with arm extended out. Your fingers take some pressure off your arm and the stretching isnt extreme. See how much farther you can climb after just a few days.
