Coping with the heat
Hey Ya'll
It 6:00p.m. in south Texas. It is 100 degrees out right now. I have tried to stay in as much as I can because the heat is really pushing my heart rate up. It is usually between 74-84bpm. For about the last week or so with this heat I have been running between 98 & 128bpm No exertion involved. It is just too hot (it's only May). Any advice from anyone on what I can do to get my heart rate down?

Heat & Heart Rate

Hi Mona,
Your heart rate should increase some as you get hot. An increased blood flow is needed for keeping our body cool when we get hot. However, it seems to me that your heart may be overdoing a good thing and I would suggest that you give your doctor a call if this high rate continues.
I know what the normal temp. is in your and Amanda's areas each summer and if the current heat wave is what has your rate this high, I hate to think about what it may be come July and August. Of course there are meds to slow down a fast heart rate, but that one is for a good doctor to decide.
As you probably know by now Amanda is about a 125 miles due west of where you live, so both of you have faith, I just looked at the forecast for your areas and starting tomorrow the temp should return to something more normal for a few days.
Good luck,
Smitty

I have no advice...but I am trying to beat the heat too. I am also in south TX, and it sure is hot out there today. Our thermostat showed 107 degrees this afternoon...I hate to see what July and August will bring!!!
Take care and stay cool,
Amanda
