Proud Owner of New Pacemaker and Lead

I’m the proud owner of a new Medtronic Adapta pacemaker and ventricle lead. I was called on Monday and had the surgery done on Wednesday of this week. My pacemaker was re-implanted on the same side as the old one (left side), but the lead was implanted on the right side (would not go in on the left) and had to be tunnelled under my skin over to the device. I hope it doesn’t look like a worm under my skin when I take the bandages off. I will post a picture next week. I was put to sleep for the surgery and was kept in the hospital overnight for observation.

I’m sore and tired, but otherwise good. I will be taking next week off work to recover. I can’t drive for a week and don’t plan to lift my arms above my head for at least six weeks. I don’t want to pull that lead out and have to go through that again.

Cheers,
Blake

Sorry you had to go through that! Heal quickly so you can enjoy your summer with your boys. {{{hugs}}}

My Adapta has been faithfully pacing away since it replaced my old Kappa in 2010.

best wishes,

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
