Follow up: Pacemaker Syndrome

I talked to my EP's nurse today. She suspects that I am feeling the pacing mechanism of my PM. I find this odd since I've never felt it before. It is also odd to me that this all started after I went for my interrogation a few weeks ago. They must have made some changes. The nurse said my EP is out of town until the end of the week. She is supposed to be getting together my settings printout and all that stuff. I'm wondering if I'm trying to go into a-fib more often or something and I'm feeling the device pace me out of it, but I'm thinking I've probably tried to go into a-fib before since I've had the PM for 6 yrs. now and I've never felt it pace me out of it before. Could they have changed something where I would feel it now? They're always trying to save battery life and it never works. I seem to be very sensitive to any changes. I've had my device changed out twice, once at 2 yrs. and then the last one lasted almost 4 yrs.................

Feeling pacing

Hi,
I've had pacemakers since 1983, at 10 years old. I could feel the pacing sometimes and they would adjust the settings. I especially felt it going from a single to a dual chamber pacer for some reason. It's been ok now but there have been periods of adjustment. Did they try to adjust your settings? I think they lowered my pacing to fix the problem last time. Or maybe it's just your body rejecting the site and twitching?

I have always been very sensitive to any changes made in my settings. I would insist that the changes are gone over with the nurse, EP and yourself together, and an explanation/reversal made of changes The settings which extend battery life have been turned off in my case as I am not comfortable with them on and this has never been an issue.You always have the right to be comfortable and can insist on them changing things until you are.
