Hey there everyone. I'm a 30 year old F diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and LBBB (left bundle branch block). I just had my ICD installed yesterday (YES, YESTERDAY). I'm home now and feel like I ran a huge marathon but otherwise I'm doing pretty great. I wanted to say HI to everyone since I've been lurking for a few weeks behind the scenes... :) So...HELLO!!!

Thank you all for responding! Finding this site has been a blessing. Linda, our situations are very similar, my ef was also 25%! And the reminder about not raising my left arm is much appreciated. Because I'm not in a ton of pain I keep forgetting about those restrictions and the LAST thing I want is to disrupt any leads!!! My email is prophetic_eyes@yahoo.com, feel free to write!

hello, haven"t been on in a while i had a pacemaker put in because of tachy-brady syndrome i felt fine then things started acting up again so i had to go to tufts in boston to have a icd put in and the pacemaker out i had terrible pain throughout the op dr said it was because the site hadn"t healed from the pacemaker but what bothers me is now they want me to keep going to boston 50 mi away i want to see my old cardiologist here are they shoving me off because i dont have top insurance anymore or is this nonsence standard? I always paid the bills.I know tufts is a top hospital but I dont want to go there, yet they insist i havent heard from my cardiologist, away on vacation they tell me. anyone experience this?

My pacemaker has ultimately saved mine and my unborn childs life for which I am thankful.

The worst part is over for you now! Just waiting for the surgery. I too have LBBB with an EF of 25. My ICD was put in 5/16/08 so I'm 4 months post implant. I feel so much better! You won't believe the difference it makes. Take it easy and don't over exert yourself because you feel good! That's what I did! Don't lift your left arm over your shoulder height for at least 4 to 6 weeks to allow the leads to fully implant into your heart. If you have any questions let me know your email address and I'll forward you mine.
Take care,
Linda
