Guess im getting a defib in a week

Hello all, just found this site. Ill give you my bio. On July 13,2008 I went to urgent care as i thought i had broncitis, dr gave me some antibiotics, the next two days later woke during the nite not being able to breath, went back to dr he ordered a chest xray as he thought i went into pnenimoia, called and said i had had congential heart failure started me on some heart medicine and water pills went in monday and had a eckocardigram, dr calls wants me to see a cardioligist, friday july 25th have dr appt. sends me to a hospital 40 min to the north of me where they will do a cath on monday, have it on monday they tell me i have had 3 to 5 heart attacks and have significant heart damage and may need a transplant if bypass doesnt work so two hours later im loaded into a ambulance and sent to a major hospital in Indianapolis get there, this monday july 28th, have nuclear tests on tuesday, then another on wednesday, they told me that with the damage i had sustained the bypass may or maynot take so may have to have artificial heart.schedule high risk bypass surgery for 7am friday aug 1st. Needless to say I and my wife are in utter um shock. All seemed to go well, was in icu for 5 days and then another 3 days in stepdown unit. went to my cardioligist four weeks later to have blood work and another eko, calls and says i need to have a defibulator put in in the next two weeks, at time of surgery my cf was 15% and now has only improved to 20%. It is amazing all the negitive things that are going thru my mind right now. sorry about all the rambiling but glad found this site so i can sound off and ask questions. some of the things that i have read on here could have done without lol. but thanks for listening, just a little scared about all of this, i guess as fast as it went for me i was in enough shock that i didnt have time to think about alot of things. Now it is amazing how much i miss being able to do simple things, they still wont let me drive, cant golf, cant fish, stuck at home by myself, going stir crazy very badly. So at least i can come on here and whine and cry.

i am going on my first year with my icd. the icd shocked me in april, the ep put me on amiodarone. i have been during well since then. i do suffer from anxiety though. so i take a zanox and feel better. if you need the meds. ask the doctor for them. i think you should use meds. when you need them.the icd is a pain when you go to the airport you have to be frisked no magnets near the icd. i hope everything works out for you good luck, curly
