Alam system

I was going along really well this morning when my "alarm" went off in my chest. My device has an "alarm" when something is wrong. I called the doctors and they said my battery is low. ( I also have a computer link through the phone line) My "alarm" will go off untill this is replaced every morning.... Maybe next week as outpaitent surgey. First, does anyone else have this "alarm." Second, did it scare the daylights out of them like it did me. I live about 35 minutes from a local hospital and about 21/2 hours from the heart hospital. I have excellent doctors. I've been hospitized 3 times since January for many reasons and I guess I am just "gunshy." Let me know if any of you have had this happen and how long it took to get the battery replaced. Thanks and God Bless

What Brand

I never heard of one that did that, so please tell us the brand and model of your pacemaker. I am being told that mine will have to be replaced anytime now and I want to be able to tell the Dr. about one that I do not want.

Thanks,

Bob

Here it goes...
Implant date Model Number
Feb 2007 C154DWK Medtronic
Feb 2007 429488 Medtronic
Feb 2007 694965 Medtronic
Feb 2007 407652 Medtronic
Feb 2007 5071-35 Medtronic

This is what my medical cards have on them for security at airports etc. It has this built in "alarm" ( spunds like a soft eurpoean siren...sort of)and I have a small device in my bedroom which takes readings off the equipment and sends it every so often or when there is a dected problems. Everything is wireless. When I go to the doctor's office they just point and click to get readings.

I see you have a pacemaker/defibrillator. That is something I have no indication of needing yet.

Thanks for the info.

I have an alram

by johnb10000 - 2009-06-29 11:06:39

I have a Medtronic pacemaker that also has an alarm. The Meditronic technician had it play the alarm during a checkup so I know what it sounds like. It sounded more like a cell phone ringing.

If the alarm sounds then my it is supposed to sound at 10:10 AM every day. It would sound every hour if there is something more urgent.

I has never gone off.

Hasn't happened yet

My pacemaker is a Medtronic Enrythm and I am told that when the battery starts to run low that an alarm will sound to let me know. I just got my PM 3 months ago, so needless to say, I haven't experienced it yet, but at least now I have an idea what to "look" for.

I want one!

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
