I had my 2nd surgery

Well, I had my 2nd surgery last Thursday to have my ICD repositioned. It was quite an experience. It took almost 2 hours because they decided to fix one of the leads while they were in there that had been causing diaphragmatic spasms and they had to cut out the old scar that was what they called keloid scaring (swollen and very sore to the touch)??! I was awake for most of the surgery so I was able to tell them when I no longer felt the spasms....and I did feel some pain even though I was pretty sedated. Over all I must admit it was worse than the first surgery and I hope I never have to go through it again. I also found out that my ICD had not been sewn down to begin with and that is why it was flipping around....from what they told me they don't like to sew them in place unless it causes problems later (makes no sense to me). So now my incision is twice as long as before and I have 14 staples. I am also in more pain this time around and I cant use my left arm again for another 6 weeks or lift anything over 10 lbs (which is a huge pain because I have a 5 month old son to care for). I know over all I had great care and I am thankful to have this little device keeping me alive but I must admit I feel pretty depressed and aggravated with it all. I am only 27 and I just want to feel normal again. Any prayers or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!!

You are so right to be thankful to have the little device keeping you alive for your family!!! and yourself!!!
I have only had my PM since 9/5/08 and once in awhile I have those same feelings sort of "why me" but then I try to remember "ALWAYS BLESSINGS, NEVER LOSSES". Hang in there and take one hour at a time. I will keep you in my good thoughts and daily prayers. Our lives have been changed forever, but the alternative was not good.
