I had a ICD check on Tuesday. It should last until 2011. The next ICD I get should be the bi-ventricular one.
My cardiologist still keeps talking about trying to improve my condition and suggested a number of scenarios: different meds, altering the device pacing, and/or adding another lead into the bottom left side of her heart. Right now the lowest I pace is 90 bpm. It would be interesting to see what the lowest is for other people.
If they decide to put in another lead, there are complications because of needing to find an open vein. Because I have so many leads from past devices that have scar tissue grown around them, they would need to use a laser, which the University of Minnesota does not yet possess. They do, however, have the ability to put in a lead outside the heart -- without open heart surgery -- and this would be done with robotics.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
Lowest pace

My lower limit is 55. I have been getting down to around 56-58 lately when I am stretched out in my recliner. I imagine I am hitting the 55 limit while I'm asleep. I figure if I start hitting the 55 while I'm awake I'll ask to have it set down to 50.
