exercise

As long as you are otherwise healthy and you have been cleared for exercise, you should be able to do whatever you want. I'm currently addicted to Crossfit/boot camp classes. They push me harder than I'd push myself and I love that the workout varies every day. I just show up and do what they tell me, no more thinking about mixing cardio with weights, upper body days with lower body days.

Thank you

Thank you Tracey. I guess I have just been too scared to do anything and that is dumb because I have had it five years. But I just lost 50 lbs over a period of time, but I need to tone up my arms and legs of course the stomach. I lost there, but lost of wrinkles and flabby. Hate it. I see bones in my body, I didn't know I had. LOL. Thanks again you have been a great help. And yes the doctor says I am in good health especially for my age. My pacemaker was put in because they couldn't control my heart rate. I never had a heart attack or stroke, but did die 3 times in a day and half. They had to burn a little of my heart because at first they put a 2 line in and I only needed a one line. Never was on any pain meds. So I feel like a very lucky person. Again thank you. Have a Great Christmas.

have fun

The key to exercise you'll stick with is to have fun. If it's a chore to go, we won't do it for long. Just pick something and get started!

Older with lost skin elasticity!

I had bariatric surgery in December 2012 and have lost 48kg since then, just achieved my own set goal weight. My bariatric surgeon warned me that I would probably end up with an apron and other loose skin as at 65 your skin doesn't have the elasticity to shrink back as the weight drops off. He told me that when the time came he could arrange an apronectomy at least on my medical insurance. I heard what he said but at the end of the day decided I don't wear a speedo on the beaches of Mauritius or wherever and don't need to go through the trauma of the surgery.

I work out daily but because of a number of previous back surgeries I am unable to do more than walk briskly. I live on my game farm inside a private game reserve and have all the Big Five on my farm most of the time. This means it is too dangerous to go walking around the farm without a heavy rifle (I have one and am very experienced and competent in its use) but if that rifle gets used, there will be mountains of paperwork which I can do without. I compromised by buying myself a decent treadmill which is parked on my verandah overlooking my main waterhole so I can watch the stage while I work out.

I use the program features of the treadmill and do intervals with the incline of the belt. This has worked great for me and although it won't get rid of my apron, my legs and arms have no loose skin and actually look quite good (according to my wife). I guess you don't have impediments to any type of exercise (clear intention to exercise with your cardio perhaps) and go for it! As Tracey says though, pick something you will stick with.

Good luck.

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
