One year on
It's now one year to the day since I had my pacemaker implanted. In all that time I haven't had one bit of trouble and almost all of the time I forget that the thing is even there. I get my pacemaker checked in a simple, painless procedure and that's it. My scar healed up very quickly, I had the op in the school summer holidays and I was back at my desk for the new term starting just over two weeks later. I do have a small card to carry but this is a very small price to pay. Good luck to everyone who has just undergone / is about to undergo pacemaker surgery - I really hope that your experience mirrors mine.

Good to hear from you Pete. Yes, I do indeed hail from Fife and I am a lifelong fan of the Pars. I've always enjoyed my trips to Tannadice and I hope your lads have a good season also. More to the point, I do hope that your new pacemaker behaves itself and that you enjoy a trouble free year ahead.
Good luck
Tom

The Pars is the nickname of a Scottish football (soccer) team from the town of Dunfermline in Fife - the actual name of the team is Dunfermline Athletic. I, for my long suffering sins, am a long term adherent of the team, thus my perhaps rather bizarre user name.
Much more importantly, well done to you on posting here right after your pacemaker op. I'm hoping to be around for a great many years to come and I'm sure you are too. All the very best to you - as I indicated, I've been exceptionally lucky with my pacemaker thus far (without tempting providence hopefully :-) ) and I really do wish you and everyone else the same. Keep in touch and let us all know how you are.

Life does not stop with a pacemaker, even though it caught me off guard.

on having your first year go so well.
i take it from your user name you hail from the kingdom of Fife ?
i've just had my six week checkup done on my second pacer in a year (first one got infected) and am hoping for a year just like the one you described
good luck to the pars and Jim Mcintyre this season -
