Sudden pulsating sensation

Hi, fellow members:
I've got my PM implanted on the right side since 4 and a half years ago. Today I've had the most strange sensation. The muscles around the chest area of the implant, have begun to pulsate at the heart's rythm for a while, stopped and then begun again. This has lasted for some minutes, time to go to the nearest Emergency Room, where I've taken an electrocardiogram, that's been found OK. All the time I've been feeling well, and so I' feeling now,but the thing sounds very strange to me.
Any similar experiences ?
Thanks in advance.

Leaking lead?

Could be a leaking lead that leaks sometimes. If it were leaking continuously, the tech would have noticed it.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

PULSING

This kind of problem is quite common. Usually very careful adjustment of the pacemaker will stop it. It could also fade with time. Good luck Peter

Pulsing

I had the same experience. Was taken to the ER were
they said everything was ok and it may have been the PM doing it's automatic system check. I was to call my
DR if it happened again. One week to the day and hour
it happened again. It felt like the PM was going to jump
out of my shoulder. Anyway called the DR was advise to
come in for a PM Check. They checked it and said all was ok and it was just the PM doing it's self check. They said if it bothered me they could turn it off. This was after
a year and a half with out ever experience that sensation.
I said it did bother me so they turned off the self check
mode. I have had no problems after that. I would talk with
your DR and probe a little more.
Good luck

Variety of reasons

Good question but no simple answers......

There are many reasons for pulsing either around or at the PM site as mentioned in the other comments.

The most important thing to remember is....does this pulsation cause you to feel sick, or faint, or dizzy? If it does and lasts for any period of time it warrants ivestigation. If it is just intermittently bothersome....keep a log as to the time of day it occurs and when you go in for your next PM check mention it to the tech and provide them with the dates and time of the occurances.

Another thing to consider.....were you excersing prior to the pulsation? Muscles could be spasming due to the excercise.....and even though it is 4 years post implant you can also get nerve pulsations and muscle/tissues twitches due to healing......all things to consider.

When ever in doubt do as you did and have it checked.

All the best to you....cheers........Mary Anne
