Latest Checkup

Just received my printout of the latest Car Link phone check. all looks great. In fact it looks better than great. PVC's are way down. The pacer is doing what it is supposed to do without fanfare!

It's worth my effort at making sure things were done right.

It's a misspelled Care Link phone monitor for my Medtronic pacer.

I've been half grounded for the last few weeks. My heart is doing great, but my right ankle doesn't like me. I've had to resort to the exercise bike which isn't nearly as nice as hiking in the desert.

What is this

Hi Frank,

What is a Car Link phone check, whatever it is, keep doing what your doing.

It seems all those adventures you do in the desert really pay off, keep doing what you're doing.

Ankle

by ElectricFrank - 2012-08-01 02:08:57

I'm not sure just what is happening with my ankle. I'm wondering if it isn't an outcome of some sort of neuropathy. I tend to get numbness in both feet and sometimes up my lower legs, especially after lying down, or walking for a distance. There's no weakness, just the loss of feeling. Like right now no problem. It may be a back or spin issue. It also seems related to intestinal contents. So the T.E.N.S.wouldn't be much help. That would just make it easier to injure the ankle.

This is one those caregiver situations. I have lots of information about it, but each specialty sees it as one of their things. So I continue to work on it.

Getting things done right

by ElectricFrank - 2012-08-01 03:08:27

Hurtheart,
I've been thinking about writing up something on how I handle medical issues. One idea is to set up a website where I have more ability to use graphics to enhance what I say. Here are just few teasers:

1. While it is helpful it isn't my education that makes me able to understand things. When I received my first pacer in 2004 I knew almost nothing about pacemakers.

2. With any medical situation there is always some aspects that I understand. I use this as a reality check on the docs stories. If he/she can discuss and make sense on the things I do know, then I have a higher level of trust on things on the rest. This is where this forum is great. It gives a way to get a reality check. However, this leads to #3.

3. This one is difficult to understand. I'm not scared at the prospect of dying. When I'm sitting in the docs office listening to his description of a diagnosis, I become very interested and excited. I ask questions like "if my heart stopped right now how long before I am unconscious, and how much longer before I'm dead?" Then we can get on to how we are going to deal with the current situation. This has 2 effects. It frees me up to make decisions, and it lets the doc know there is no point in scaring me. What's hard to get across though is that this isn't a "trick". I actually mean it.

happy for you
