Pacemaker

Hi everyone,

Having my pacemaker replaced today. It has lasted nine years so first time for replacement. Am a little nervous. What am I to expect? Does it take as long to recover as the first time?

Remember me today.

Hope it all goes well. Met a guy at hosp this week who had his replaced in the morning, had lunch and was just being checked before going home at about 3pm.

easy

Good luck! Nine years is excellent!! Replacements are really easy, I've had three now. If the first one was a 10, this is a 3 or 4. You don't have to worry about messing up new leads this time, they use the same pocket, and they usually go in the same place so it's all scar tissue.

Will be thinking of you today!

I haven't had mine replaced either so will be anxious to hear how it goes for you.

Prayers are with you

Our prayers are that the surgery will go smoothly and quickly and that you will have an easy recovery.

Surgery went well. Pretty sore. No lifting, pushing, pulling and no shower for four days. Am on Plavix so a little more bleeding than most but not too bad.

Best part, I did not get sick to my stomach from meds.

Took little over an hour for replacement. Longest part is getting it out . Had to have complete bed rest for four hours and then I was able to go home.

So now we know how a replacement goes. Now have a new Medtronic adapta. See the doctor on Thursday to make sure all is working well.

Thanks for all the prayers.

Wishing you good luck ! I am having my replacement at the end of July My pacemaker is 8 and 1/2 years old I am told that replacement is easier I hope that is true!

You know you're wired when...

You have a little piece of high-tech in your chest.
