Peace of Mind...

Hi everyone, it's me Carol, PM recipient of almost 1 month. I've posted before over anxieties, arrythmias, and just coping in general with this new addition to my life. Just wanted to let you know that I'm doing pretty well, still coping as best I can . I have good and "could be better days". I did develop a friction rub, had an Echo done, and everything came out ok per the doctor, luckily I don't have any chest pain or unusual SOB.

One thing my EP did to help calm some of my fear regarding irreg. heart rhythm was to give me a an event monitor, which I can take with me and if I feel something that scares me I record it, play it back to them, and get instant feedback. I don't abuse this-have only used it twice in the past 3 weeks, but for me, it has put to rest some of the fears about what I'm feeling at the moment so the anxiety does not escalate into the "What if?" stage quite so dramatically. I have noticed a pattern of increased PAC's when I haven't slept well the previous night.

Has anyone else used an event monitor in this way? Thanks for listening. I return to work next week, so maybe not as many postings. Thanks again, Carol

That's interesting. I've always thought there should be such a device. I check my own on equipment I built, but it is bulky and can't go everywhere with me.
In my case it was helpful. I had a lot of skipped beats that the cardiologist said were PVC's, but when I check it I found that the pacer was losing control of my heart. They set the voltage up a bit and it is clicking away again.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
