Back Pain

by Penguin - 2024-06-10 16:51:59

A possible cause could be tension perhaps?  If you have tensed up during healing following PM implantation or have felt tense / worried at times since January and there is associated stiffness in muscles and joints, you might feel it as back pain perhaps? Just a guess.

Massage and relaxation therapies may help if you think it could be down to this or, if not, maybe it would be helpful to visit a Chiropractor / Osteopath for assessment to rule out a muscle / bone related issue?

I hope someone else can offer a more helpful response.

Pain in area of pacemaker

by RickBT - 2024-06-10 21:15:30

Joseph, I also had a pacemaker implanted at the end of January. I then has some complications the following week. Over the next couple of months I was in pain with any exertion. I saw my cardiologists who did an ECG and found out the pacemaker was not ideally set for my needs. It was causing Angina. He advised that they usually start with a standard program for most people, but that I needed adjustments. I went to the pacemaker clinic, had the adjustments and was put on a new medication for chest pain. For further details you can see my story in my bio. It's now five months and I still get some ocassional soreness, but I am 95% better and will take that. As a side note I have been told that it may take a year or more to fully recover. Trauma to the heart can cause the immune system to be compromised. Your arthritis may be worse because of this. You should discuss this with your arthritis physician. Good luck. Rick

Back pain

Quinton, after my pacemaker implant on the right side I had pain around the site, especially around the leads. Had to change my sleep position from side sleeper (so comfortable) to back sleeper.  I also have a degenerative disk in the neck. I started having a lot of back pain every day. It took finally finding the right pillow to stop most of the back pain, just a little sore occasionally now.

You’re not alone

by RioTeresa - 2024-06-18 22:11:58

Hi Quinton,

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve seen SEVERAL posts on here over the years from people complaining about having back pain after receiving a pacemaker implant. I haven’t seen any clear answer as to why or how to help. I haven’t been able to sleep on my back since receiving my first PM in 1995 because of searing pain in my back directly below my heart, which is very weird, that’s not where the PM is.

Anyway, I’m sorry you’re in pain. I hope you find help. You need to know that you’re not alone in this and you’re not imagining it. All the Best!

Teresa ❤️

I've had back PM related pain

by Amara - 2024-07-01 03:31:07

Joseph, that can be very frustrating. I'm sorry you are experiencing it

I've had PM related back pain in my left upper back across from my PM when the settings are off. Once I have the settings adjusted the back pain goes away.

Yours may or may not be from the same reason.
