I recently had my pacemaker paced a bit faster I think. I am now so tired I find everyday tasks exhausting and have to keep sitting down. My lower chamber is o.k. so I was informed but my upper chamber was not quite so good . I have to go back in two months and be paced again, meanwhile taking blood thinners. At night my heart rate was 176bpm and apparently should be about 6O. It does not happen every night just occasionaly. Some wag suggested I should stop having threesoms which did make me giggle I must admit as I have been married for nearly 6O years and my husband is 87.. Be interested if anyone else is suffering tthe same sort of fatigue.Regards to you all Y

It goes without saying that you should not wait another 2 months for the next pacemaker check. Such a high BPM is dangerous. Consult your family doctor or cardiologist about this situation. Are you on betablocker medication already?

The others have given you sound medical advice; seek sound medical advice. 🙂
There are so many things that can cause fatigue that it takes some work to get to the bottom of the issue. You may have to push, kick, or scream to get doctors to bother getting to the root cause of your problem but "the squeaky wheel...".
If the root cause of your fatigue is your husband, you have the threesome backward. Get some help so you can get some rest. 🤪
Pacer Adjustment
by Stache - 2023-07-13 21:52:33
I have a dual chamber pacer 100% paced. My last adjustment was by the manufacture tech rep making my pacer more responsive. At first, the adjustment seems okay, however, I am more tired now than ever.
I have a scheduled appointment at the pacer clinic on August 1st. I am still walking 1-hour every morning and riding my bicycle two to three times a week in the morning between 20 to 30 kilometers per ride. I used to ride 40 to 60 kilos per ride but I can’t do that anymore it seems. I am a bit concerned with the lack of energy and not sure if my last pacer adjustment has caused this. The pacer manufacture tech rep made my last adjustments and it is more sensitive than before. I have contacted my cardiologist for input on my adjustment in August as I am sure making my pacer more sensitive is the cause of my higher BPM. Even my O2 has dropped off a little since my last adjustment.

Thank you for all your comments. I have received a letter from my Cardiologist and Elecrophysiologist (thats what he calls himself).
I am in atrial fibrillation with high ventricular rates apparently. I am now on Beta blockers to reduce heart rate and will be paced again llth August.
Beta blockers are difficult to get used too. Bit like a chemical cosh but I have been assured that it takes a month and all will be well..I am still fatigued and joke that I can do a.m. or p.m. but not both

Fatigue

Fatigue is not a symptom of normal pacing. It may be appropriate to ask the pacemaker people whether your PM's exercise rate response is switched on.
Medically speaking there are many different causes for generalised fatigue.
I would suggest you seek medical help.
I would have thought at the age of 79 a heart rate of 176 is potential for disaster. I do hope this is now under control. If not, I would not wait for further episodes. This needs sorting as an fairly urgent priority.
