Bisoprolol - in the morning or at night?

Hi,

I just switched my Medication - Bisoprolol from the morning to the late afternoon to see if it less affects my sleepin habits.

Does anyone have any experience doing this?

Tell me when do you take your meds.

I had my first PM checkup 2 days ago after receiving my Biotronik DRT in late October.

They changed some settings and it made my insomnia even worse until now.

I also learned that my usage went up from 70% to 90% and is progressive. I should expect to need it 100% in a few more months.

Doesn't really gave my Ego a booster, but nothing I can do. Live life how it comes, that's what I do now.

Give me your feedback, everybodys opinion counts.

Have a great weekend

How about at lunch time?

Farmer as long as you take them at approx the same time each day so that your body has the medication when it needs it, I would say it doesn’t much matter.  Morning, lunch or at night.  I find that taking it at lunch time suits me better and the meal helps absorb the med, making it less likely to cause side effects.

I have sometimes taken Bisoprolol twice daily (am and pm), but lunch time suits me best.  If I take them a.m. I can feel sleepy during the day and at night I am wide awake.  I find Bisoprolol can cause sleep disturbances, along with many beta blockers because they affect the sleep hormone, Melatonin.  Experiment a little and find what suits you best.  Sleep well.

pacing

Increasing usage is pretty normal. It's not a bad thing. We need it, the pacer jumps in. Many of us pace 100%. There is no "ideal" amount of pacing, whatever we need to feel good is the right amount.

I've never been on bisprolol but when I was on atenolol, it made me tired so I took it at bedtime.

Bisoprolol after lunch for me....

If I take it in the morning my heart rate is to high at bed time (11pm or so).  If I take it later in the day, after 3pm or so, my heart rate is to low at bed time.  So for me, I take it after lunch.  But we are all different so you need to experiment a little to figure out what works best for you.  The dosage you take can make a difference as well.  Doctors always try to increase the dose to the maximum tolerable level (up titrate).  Make sure you let them know what your feeling.

Twice a day (AM and PM)

I've been taking bisoprolol for 3 years now. But I primarily have an ICD (plus the pacemaker) for arrhythmia issues. I take 5 mg in the morning (7am) and then 5 mg in the evening (7pm). My cardiologist figured it was best to do twice a day because if I took the bisoprolol only in the morning, for example, I was experiencing more symptoms when the evening rolled around. When I switched to twice a day it helped A LOT! I hope this helps!
