Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has had a laser lead extraction...and could tell me what your expierance was like.
I have a duel chamber pacemaker and had my PM interogated a month ago. I found out that my Atrial lead is damaged and need to have surgery.
I got the call today for the surgery apt. and was told that instead of leaving the damaged wire in, they are going to do a laser extraction. I am a little more nervous now, and am hoping some of you can tell me about your expierance with this procedure.
I am also at the same time going to have my battery replaced.
Thanks for you help,
Christine

Thank your for your comment! I have just been very nervous since I got the apt. date. I really don't know much about the laser extraction...that is why it helps to hear from people like you who have been through it!

It's been ages since I've heard from you! I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. Please let me know how you are doing. I've missed talking to you!

You know you're wired when...
You need to be re-booted each morning.

Lead extraction

I had a lead extracted a couple of years ago and while there are risks, it's was an easier recovery than my initial PM surgery. I went into the hospital in the morning and went home the next day. I can't recall how long the procedure took, but my GF said she was surprised at how lucid I was coming out of surgery. I guess she expected me to be out of it, but I felt pretty normal.
