ARE WE ABOUT TO RUN OUT OF PACEMAKERS?
Good Evening, I havent been on this site for quite a while. I live in the UK across the pond. I am a little worried that the heath service will not replace my pacemaker in about 3 years time. And being totally dependant on it due to an AV node ablation proceedure. The pandemic is causing chaos in the health service and i think we may have to live with it which our governments dont yet understand. I suspect the helth service will go bancrupt . Peter

Hope Not!

If the NHS goes bankrupt a lot of us will be in trouble, but let's hope that never happens. I'm hoping that the vaccine program will help get the NHS back to normal and that life will go on as before. I can't see the government letting the NHS go to pot - even BoJo was treated in an NHS hospital.
Graham.
Worry not

No government, of any political colour, would allow the NHS to go bankrupt. For all its failings we Brits love it, probably now more than ever, and would kick any government out that didn't respect that. Don't worry, it will still be there when you need a replacement, and I am sure the pacemaker manufacturers will still be turning them out in their hundreds of thousands.
NHS funding went from £148.8 billion to £201.7 billion in a year - that's a massive increase.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
Worry

I haven't read anywhere that we are running out of pacemakers. I have 1-2 years left on mine. My worries don't include the running out of pm's. My worries mostly are taken up by COVID and it's effects on on the World population and the people I care about. But people are getting vaccinated and I believe we have enough pacemakers. So my cup is still half full. It's sunny in Texas and I'm going for a run.
Have a great day,
