Want to know the average battery life of a CRT - P device of Medtronik/St Jude/Biotronik as doctor recommended it for my father. Please answer ...

what influences battery life

How long the battery will last is less about  the brand and more about how it's used. Position of the leads, how much juice it takes to get the heart to pace, the safety margins, how much it paces. All three of those are excellent brands so you can't go wrong. The doctor will know which is the best choice for your dad. Last thought, programming is important so you want the one your doctor knows inside and out.

Replacements are super easy (I'm on my 5th) so I'd be much more interested in the features available being a good fit to his needs and my doctor's familiarity than how long they think the battery will last.  Also, those numbers are a guess. My first was expected to last 5 years, with careful programming it lasted 7. Another was to last 10, but a lead went bad and drained the batterylife and it only lasted 2. My current one is 4 years old and still says 9+. (pacer, not CRT, they tend to last longer)

I have a crt d. Compared to pacemakers, they tend to last much shorter. My first one lasted 6 years

CRT-P Battery Life?

by AgentX86 - 2020-03-06 13:42:34

How long is a piece of string?

I've had my CRT-P for two years. Last device clinic appointment said that i had 7.9 years left. I'm paced 100% (dependent) in both ventricles, so it uses a fair amount of juice.

Mine is a Medtronic, though, and there are several models of Medtronics, not to mention other manufacturers.

One shouldn't put too much faith in the battery life estimation, either. That's all they are and can be way off.

Warranty of a CRT-P Device

If you have a CRT-P device of Medtronic/st jude/ Biotronik , please tell me the warranty period of your device. Because my father's cardiologist suggested a Mdetronic CRT-P device with only 5 years warranty. When I asked them about lifetime warranty or warranty more than 5 years, they said, for CRT- P device you only get 5 years warranty. Please clear my doubt.

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
