2nd Check up.

I am now 5 months into having a PM for Type 2 AV block and today was my second PM check.  I am feeling fine and after making a few adjustments, the EP said that everything was OK, except that on 20th September last year (PM implanted 13th August), I had an episode of palpitations at 12.30 am.  I remember waking up with my heart doing the fandango, but went back to sleep and didn't think any more about it. As far as I know this is the only time this has happened. The EP said I should keep a record (dates and times) of anything unusual happening, but because I am not having any symptoms of lightheadedness etc. I should be OK.

Is this anything to worry about?

Graham.

Hi Graham,

Did your EP put a name to your palpitations ? Atrial or Ventricular arrhythmia, duration and speed of arrhythmia for example ??

I would ask a few more questions so you know what you are potentially dealing with and what treatment if any, might be needed.  In the meantime keep diary notes of any symptoms, like breathlessness, dizziness, palpitations, the time and date this occurs and also feel your pulse for regular/irregular rhythms and any changes in speed.  You will soon get to know what is normal for you.

Hopefully it was just a one off disturbance following PM trauma of implant.  Let us hope for the best
