palpitations when standing and shortness of breath

Hey everyone! I just had a pacemaker fix with my rate and it was a success, I now can exercise but now I am having shortness of breath and it is worse when I stand up after laying down or sitting. I experience palpitations when I stand up as well, I hate it and it's really bothered me to the point I can't do anything. I went in to see if it's me getting sick and everything came back normal. What do you all think could be causing my shortness of breath and palpitations upon standing? Anything would help, thanks!

When you've been laying down, just go to a sitting position for a minute or two before standing.

Sometimes there is an adjustment period after a pacemaker goes in, the heart is doing fine but its not the same as it was before....usually much better but it takes the patient time to adjust to the differences between how the God given heart reacts and how the pacemaker reacts in real time.   You will get used to the New You, it just takes time and try to not be nervous about these changes.  Try to focus on anything other than the palpitations and shortness of breathe.  If you can exercise, all is well.   Just be kind to yourself, take it easy until you are acclimatized.

Best Wishes,

Im active

I'm really active and had a echo 2 weeks ago that showed a 74% ejection fraction which is great the dr said. The top is at 70 and my was 74% due to the shape I'm in. I workout everyday but I haven't the past 2 days because of this. I don't know what else to do, I wondered if this could be something to do with my AV delay settings but I'm just not sure. I'm healthy all around I've just had this problem for the past 3-4 days and I don't know what to do.

Go back to your EP soon

You need to go straight back to your EP doc - this isn't right.  You may have developed another tachy-arrhythmia (which would explain the SOB and palpitations).

Shame, since you were celebrating the fix of your 2:1 HB above 180bpm only a short while ago.

I agree

I'm sending in a remote transmission and they will see! I agree they will tell me tomorrow what's wrong, thanks so much. I do have a viral infection because I got my blood drawn from my primary dr. They think it may be that I might have a little cold but ekg was fine and blood pressure was fine. X-ray was clear so hopefully it is a lil viral cold, but I will find out what my heart is doing tomorrow. Thanks everyone!

Heart and sickness

My AV block has always been worse when I'm sick. Even a mild cold would cause it to block al lower rates.

I was sick and I’m better now!

My mono flared back up and I had a cold. I don't get shortness of breath often with colds is why this shocked me. I had mono when I was younger, and mono can flare up later in life. My mother later got sick with a similar cold where she felt shortness of breath and also my girlfriend everybody in my family ended up with a cold that had him short of breath just like I was experiencing, so this is somewhat of a relief. I feel much better now thanks for everybody's comments.
