New installee

I just had my pacemaker installed last week.

The dressing came off yesterdatay. I did not know the pacemker would show on my chest. I am a bit freaked out. Does that later fit into the chest more or will the view not change? Also having pain in left arm; how long before that subsides?

Thanks

Yes, the swelling goes down so the PM doesn't stick out as much.  Pain in arm gradually goes away too.  It just depends upon how your body heals.

Right after my PM insertion it felt like I had a bowling ball in my left shoulder.  After a while it went down.  Now there are days I can see it, there are days when you can't see it.  Depends upon how hydrated I am.

My left shoulder pain and muscle spasms went on for a long time.  I finally went to a licensed massage therapist.  Emphasis on licensed and therapist. She was able to help quite a lot.

Before you go to a massage therapist (if you decide you need one.) you'll want to have a discussion with them about having a PM.  Mine went back to her therapist school and got some additional training.  My state requires massage therapists to be licensed so I don't just have any person doing the work and that should be something for you to check out too.  Not all therapists were as cautious and responsible as mine.  So you'll want to make sure yours knows what they are doing.

I hope everything else goes well for you.

It can take up to a year to fully settle in. Don't judge it by how it looks now.

It's important to use the arm. It's tempting to baby it and we sleep in funky positions when we are sore so things get sore. Don't raise it high or lift heavy, but otherwise try to make a point of using it normally. Ice also helps.

The swelling goes down, people don’t even notice mine at all.

I am pre-PM but when I was told where it would be installed I wondered how visible it would be.  Guys may feel differently but as a women who still likes to enjoy her femininity,  I still wonder if while wearing a lower top would it show that much?  I dont mind showing cleavage but really dont want to show off a scar and bump over my breast.  Any ideas?

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.
