How long have you had the cRT pacemaker?   tell us more about your history (the profile is a good place to include this information).

Best route would be to find a talented Doc. who specializes in "Echocardiography" and have him perform a PM optimization.  I've commented about this procedure many times on this site.

It does take a while. I kept asking for my settings to be changed b/c I felt far worse after the PM. My EP completely ignored me & wouldn't even call me back and then LIED to me (he said no one ever has their settings changed!). After almost 3 months I had my routine appt w/Cardiologist & told him how i was feeling & the inappropriate response from EP. He did a ton of tests. He was also Chief of Cardio. GUESS WHAT! I got a call from my EP's nurse telling me to come in and he was personally going to walk me over to the Lab & MAKE SURE MY PM SETTINGS WERE CHANGED. At the end I got the best breath I'd had in years! My EF went from 18% to 45% Don't take NO for an answer. I'm now at 20% again but I had a few really good years & even went to Paris. I've kept myself alive for 18 years only b/c I advocate for myself, constantly research & SPEAK UP!  I'll keep fighting for myself until my very last breath b/c guess what, nobody else is going to do it for you or as well as you can.

Exactly's response zeroed in on a subject that's been on my mind awhile.  My scenatio: Pulmonary Treadmill Stress Test in mid-Nov 2018 - Performing it was a breeze. PM replacement Nov 30 (low batt). Sometime around Xmas 2018: A bout of diverticulitis, then a bad reaction to my second Shigrix shot, followed immediately with a C-Diff infection, followed imme3diately with a 3 day hospital stay with pneumonia.  Had a PM optimization mid - Feb 2019.  Ever since these health events, I could never repeat that stress test at the same level as I did last Nov. Any thing more could be accomplished by a PM adjustment?  I ask my highly regarded "plumber" cardiologist when I see him in a couple weeks.

Thanks once again for the latest comments....I will be following up with a strong message thats for sure...its interesting what power these cardioligists wheel on us as patients...never second guessing their own opinions and how as a patient some times all you are looking for is some positivity in their findings no matter how small. My latest note from my cardiologist took 5 weeks to get to me after an echo test.

An EF can take as much as a year to show improvement. Patience is a virtue.

As for finding another EP, what a crock. Look at reality, your EP is not the one who programs and tunes your device, it's the mfr rep or a specialist. The mfr reps float between EP offices and cover multiple offices. I've had 3 EPs but always the same mfr reps so just how would changing your EP help? I have never heard of an EP adjusting a device in over 12 years.

SETTING CHANGES

by Exactly - 2019-04-23 17:58:01

While most EP's do not know how to change settings, at least one in every department does. Most don't want to be bothered. Never settle & tell yourself this is all I deserve.
