pacemaker placement

I have had my PM for 6 weeks and it protrudes quite a bit towards my left arm.  A bra strap rubs up next to it.  I am 78, 120 lbs 5'.  Is this normal?  I keep thinking something will jam into it, as am unsure how stable the PM is.  Thanks for help.

Pacemaker Location

I got my pacemaker three weeks ago this Wednesday. My bra goes right over the top of my incision. For about 2 weeks I went braless. I hated to do that but everything that touched it hurt.

The nurse practitioner where I go said that it's common to have it in that location and it will not cause the pacemaker to move or anything like that.

Like you, I think it feels really weird to have it located there. I am 58 and weigh a bit more. So I have more fat and muscle near the pacemaker site.

I am hopeful that in the next few weeks it will get less noticeable and less irritated by my bra strap. Men have it easier than us. I am not saying they don't have pain. Just that they don't have to wear bra's and deal with the irritation daily.

Placement

I’ve had my pacer for about 10 weeks. It is very close to my armpit which I thought was weird at first but I don’t really notice it now. The first few weeks a folded a bandanna and stuck it under my bra strap which worked really well. Now I don’t have any problem with the strap.

Bras!

It is a pain!

I have moved to sports bras with wide Tank top like straps and when it annoys I just slip it over so that it hugs the top of my arm. Having my strap visible is preferable to no bra!

Take care

PM protruding

in April 2018, at the age of 85, I got a Medtronic pacemaker implanted. From the beginning, it was not comfortable: the skin over the PM was pinkish, warm to the touch and itching. Moreover, the left edge of the PM was protruding toward my left armpit. I hoped that these symptoms would disappear or, at least, diminish as time passes, but no luck. Is this normal? Are all PMs protruding and forming quite noticeable bumps?
