Thumping

I'm not sure if it's a 'complication' but I continue to have a four count 'thumping' especially at night in the area of my left upper rib cage. I mentioned it at my last check up and they turned off the night time testing thing and said that should take care of it. It didn't so wondering if anyone else has that going on and if they know what it is?

Have gotten used to the night time flutters. :X

Thank you for reading.

New implant?

You don't say how long you've had your pacemaker.  Less than 30 days?

They set the voltage a little higher for about the first 30 days to help get the heart adjusted to the pacemaker.  I'm one of the rare individuals who could actually feel the electric "tickle" before the hard thump of the atria working.  It used to wake me up at night.

At, or about 30 days they lowered the voltage and I quit feeling the tickle and hard thump.  Now, most of the time I don't feel anything unless the ventricle side kicks in which is rare for me.

So, perhaps your "thumping" is your heart's reaction to the higher voltage which should go away as soon as they make the adjustment.  You can also ask your EP's office if they can adjust the voltage too.

Hope everything else is going well for you.

Pacemaker

Hi. I am a new pacemaker patient following valve and aortic root replacement surgery due to having a bicuspid valve.

I have 3rd degree or complete heart block.

I too, feel a "pulse" 4x every dayt at  1:28 and 9:28 PM as well as 1x more time in early morning.

I did feel it constantly if laying on my Left side but they made an adjustment and I dont feel it as often.

My EP told me he has NO idea why I feel it and assured me that my leads are in place.

It has been a difficult time for me  i feel like very little info is given about heart block and pacemakers from medical staff.

It has been 4 months since my surgery and i am trying to grasp the brevity of my condition.

Just returning to life with my "new norm"  hoping to swim and play volleyball soon. My EP is being very cautious due to my 100% heart block. I asked what would happen if my leads came out or battery stopped. He said it would be fatal...quick. I guess that means I have no escape rate.

Sorry to be rambling..its my first post. Lol

Testing

i went to my EP yesterday. He reported that the pm tests 3x a day and that was what I feel. He said he could turn off my atrial test not ventricle test.

I chose not to bc I have no escape rate and would have a few seconds b4 cardiac arrest if something went wrong with pm.

Did it work for you.

You know you're wired when...

The meaning of personal computer is taken a step further.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.
