Battery Life?

I didn't need an alarm clock this AM.........................PM base lit up like a Xmas tree and emitted a British Police car siren sound just before 8AM! I couldn't find anything in the Medtronic  VIVA CRT-D manual that explains this event but, I assume it's the "low battery" warning indicator.  Anyone know how much battery life (as in days) is remaining?

Battery Life?

Device Clinic Nurse contacted me a bit ago. PM base sent a message to the clinic office also.  She stated there is still plenty of time to act, battery will not "die" tomorrow. Scheduling will contact me to set a date.

Battery Life

I saw from your profile that ypur CRT was installed in Jan 2015.  I thought batteries were supposed to last much longer than that?  Is a 3 year battery life typical for CRTs?

Device Clinic nurse - in the recent past -  has stated: "That third lead - as it was implanted by a TCAI EP - is not in the most optimal position and it's drawing more battery power than normal.  3 to 4 yrs may be all you can expect as far as battery life is concerned."     From what I've learned, PM replacement is Duck Soup..........................lead replacement is a whole new ball game!

leads

I had a lead that was draining battery faster than normal. It was still working so I chose to keep it through the next battery change. It got worse a few  years later and I ended up having it replaced, but I still got by for almost 5 years on the bad one. I don't have any regrets about my choice, battery replacements are a piece of cake.

I don't know about your specific device but low battery alert usually means 3-6 months, less than that if you are draining quickly. So you have time to schedule it at your convenience but don't mess around too long.

EP's Device Clinic nurse has scheduled me to see him next week for a pre procedure meeting.  I assume he wants to get the ball rolling on this thing.  BTW: Yesterday, I thought the PM base was emitting the siren sound.....NOPE!  The blaring siren was coming from ME!
