I find it near impossible to believe a lead would perforate after 17 years. You need a second opinion

They are sending me to a specialist who deals with pacemaker problems, there is a kink in the lead in my upper chest and the pace maker is sending more juice to that lead with a kink, and the pain is right where the lower lead is, i hope they can help me cant go on like this, and im so tired.

Had a heart catheterization to see whats going on cardiologist thinks ihave pericardial,
and the pericardium is inflamed, while lookng at the xray he also thinks that the RV lead has pierced the wall of the heart, hes going to have a meeting with other doctors to see what can be done. problem is the leads have been there since 2001, been told risk are very high to operate, Worried times for me

Life does not stop with a pacemaker, even though it caught me off guard.

Where did the lead perforate? Is it pacing? When I think perforate I think in the heart, and that would cause a lot more serious problems so I assume that's not what's going on. I had one that the insulation ruptured. There was no pain associated with it and it still worked, but it killed the battery in two years flat because they had to crank up the juice to get the signal through. I had room so we added a new one rather than extracting. I've had mine 24 years. I've already talked to my ep about what will happen when they need to come out because I'm out of room to add more. He's fairly specialized and does a lot of extractions but he plans to send me to another hospital with someone more experienced with high risk cases when the time comes.
What is your doctor's plan? Sending you home with pain and a bad lead doesn't sound like much of a plan to me. There are some hospitals that have highly specialized teams for older leads. Might be worth a trip to consult with one of them if you know that's what's causing the pain.
