Pacemaker

I recently purchased a sleep number bed.  After receiving it I read that it had magnets in the mattress.  I am wondering if there is anything I need to worry about regarding the magnets.

Any magnets would be far too weak and distant from your pacemaker to affect it. It takes a very strong magnet, directly on it, to trip the MRI "default" switch.

...Sleep Number beds  never had such a problem - been sleeping on one of them for 15 yrs.  other for two yrs.  MOF, we assembled the second one ourselves, so  I KNOW theat one has ZERO magnets in it.   Till someone confirms it that they have found one, that's probably urban legend.

I have successfully put on such a nametag w/o it interfering w/ my PM.  WQhat I did was take the keeper bar & place it first, then add the name tag on top.  the keeper bar absorbs nearly all the flux from the magnet & protectrsd the PM from it.  I just wanted to see if it could be done succdessfully.  I still don't wear them.  If you still have one of thse tags, put the keeper bar on it & try to pickup a pin - won't do it.

Magnets

I have a Sleep Number mattress but not their frame.  It appears the new "Smart" adjustable bases and mattresses do contain magnets.

In part from their website:

FlexFit™ Smart Adjustable Base

Your mattress attaches to your FlexFit™ smart adjustable base with magnets. If your mattress is sliding off of the base two or more inches on either side, please check the following:

Are the magnets aligned?

If you notice that the mattress magnets are not aligned to the magnet targets on the base, try lifting off the mattress and realigning it. We recommend doing this with two people.

So it depends on the model you buy.  You may want to call your device company and discuss it with them.
