Neck pain

My husband is a Vietnam veteran who is 100% disabled from Agent Orange and had a quadruple bypass 9 years ago.  He developed an arrhythmia that persisted so he was fitted with his first pacemaker about 2 months ago.  He only weighs around 145 - 150 and it protrudes from his chest very visibly.  The wound site has given no problems healing, but within a few days of the placement, he developed pain in his right neck and the bones pop when he turns his head.  He went to the VA ER and they advised him to ask his primary care team about scheduling him for an MRI.  His NP says that she cannot schedule him and that the protocol is to try physical therapy first.  I called and got him an appointment but as we have waited for his first visit, he also developed right ear pain as well.  Again, he went to the ER and was given drops, which haven't helped.  He was already wearing hearing aids but has had to remove it as he cannot withstand it in his ear and was not able to hear with the aid after this development.  Has anyone else had any problems like this after pacemaker placement?  If so, I would appreciate very much hearing about your experience and possible solutions.  Thank you. William's wife, Linda

I really doubt if the pacemaker is doing anything to cause hubby's pain. But who knows if his neck got twisted or put in an awkward postition while he was under sedation? It doesn't take much to put the vertebrae out of alignment.

I'm not a doctor--can't diagnose or prescribe. But if it was me--if I had neck pain and the bones crunched and popped when I turned my head--I would go to a chiropractor.

The war was difficult for him perhaps that experience more than anything is addition to his discomfort. The mind is a powerful organ. Prayer and meditation has been practiiced around the world for centuries. Inner peace of the turmoil of the past.

Always follow your DRs experience and suggestions.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
