Since day 1 my icd pocket has been a darker color and my clavicle has a bruised or dull achey feeling most of the time. Like the unit is pressing against the bone or an integral piece of flesh to do with it. Hah. Anyway i can put deep heat or icy hot and it helps a little. I dont take nsaids and otc's due to kidney fatigue so im at a loss for this little aggravation. Im used to aches and pains but would like insight as to how the thing causes it. I keep forgetting to ask the cardiologist because everything else is fine after surgery. Well fine for CHF. Appreciate any thoughts

Thanks for easing my mind a lot! I am going to exercise route i dont do painkillers otc or rx just too many problems. I used otc way too much over the years pushing myself being a workaholic. Prices are being paid as i am sure you have guessed. Onward with a smile though, retired early (disabled) but still too much to do to kick the bucket!

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
Shoulder pain

They did CPR on me so I woke up with a re-separated right shoulder and a damaged left shoulder. They were telling me not to use my left arm to pull myself out of the hospital bed and I told 'em with the separated shoulder I had run out of options. Had a lot of pain that went on for quite a while. Then started doing physical exercise to get back to normal activity.
Used a lot of hot and cold packs. Tylenol was my friend - I know you don't want to take it. And I'd sneak pure aspirin in on the side. I'd do the exercise, use hot and cold packs, then take it easy for the rest of the day. Sometimes it would take me four days to get back to normal. Then start all over again with the next exercise session. You can talk to the doctor about pain med options, but with the recent opioid problems they probably aren't going to let you go that way. Not worth losing their license and going to jail. I also did physical therapy.
The other major help for me was time. Eventually everything healed albeit slowly. I'm still getting therapy for the broken ribs and that's four years after CPR. I'm not complaining as my other option was being dead and I wouldn't like that at all.
Based upon your question. Talk with doctors who do physical therapy and see what they say. Sometimes it isn't much but at least you've explored that option. Hot and cold packs. Then time.
Hope you start to feel better.
