Hello,
My apologies if I’m posting in the wrong area, I’m new to this:)
Ive just turned 39 and had a pacemaker fitted 3 months ago. I’m just looking at my notes and it’s a DDD PPM implant if that makes sense?
Aside from the initial recovery period, I had it put under the muscle, everything has been fine until the last two weeks.
I’ve been feeling far more dizzy than normal, almost a drunk/hungover feeling . I don’t really drink but that’s the best way to describe it. I’m constantly wobbly, my legs feel like jelly, and I just want to lay down all the time.
Does anyone know if this could be connected to the pacemaker? Or perhaps I’m just coming down with something but I wondered if this was common?
ive had one pacemaker check so far where they tweaked something. I kept having this rushing feeling in my neck but that has eased a lot since they changed some settings.
Anyhow, nice to meet you all:) And if anyone has any advice if this is all normal I’d be grateful to hear your thoughts,
Best wishes, Jess

Great advice, Rodger--
and a welcome to Jessica.
Good idea to pick up a pulse oximeter-- it reminded me to get one too- just ordered one from ebay as I am not sure if I am up to driving just yet myself. It will be a handy device to have around, take on walks, or possibly be able to help someone else out in a pinch that's not feeling well.
All the best,
Paul
Thank you

Hi Roger, Paul and Robin,
Many thanks for getting back to me:)
I went to the doctors to get checked out and it seems I have Vertigo so totally unrelated to my pacemaker. So although I feel like i'm on a tug boat in rough seas at least everything pacemaker wise is working okay.
I have an oximeter so I shall keep an eye on my heart rate thank you. And the reason I had a pacemaker put in was because my heart sops when I faint. I think it's set for 60bpm? And possibly also meant to pre-empt me fainting too? I think I need to ask more questions on my next check up!
Many thanks again, I appreciate the help:)
Best wishes
Jess

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
what is your heart rate?

I advise your first step in figuring out what may be wrong is to check your heart rate. I use a pulse oximeter which fits over my index finger. It reads out quick and accurately. This is much more convenient and accurate than trying to get an accurate wrist or neck indication. I purchased mine at Walmart pharmacy for $29 after getting my first pace maker.
Then if you don't know what your minimum is set at, call and ask your doctor----your rate should not go below that setting.
Finally, ask if you have a rate response pacemaker and if that setting is turned on. My quick test is to sit quietly until my rate bottoms out at my minimum setting of 60 bpm; then I walk around the room once and viola my rate increases to 70 to 80 bpm within less than a minute.
What you are indicating are not normal conditions after getting a pacemaker. So, I would surmise the issue is with the settings or some other unrelated issue. We would be interested in knowing why you got the pace maker and what your current heart rate is..
