Hi there. I am 44 yrs old female. I have had my Pacemaker for almost a year and half. I had Sinus Bradycardia (low pulse for over 10yrs that i know of) as i have always been sporty so felt it was normal. and arrythmia prior to getting the Pm. I have a lead in my top right atrium and another in my bottom right ventrical. Mostly my top lead has been doing the work but recent check up showed my bottom lead in ventrical also working which is symbolising Progressive Pacemaker syndrome. So Cardiologist not happy about that obviously.
Anyone else with similar condition and is it dangerous and what is the outcome of such situations. It would great to hear more about it. Thank you. 🙂

@Beagle
Thank you for your input, but basically this is what’s happening to my heart...
Pacemaker syndrome is a disease that represents the clinical consequences of suboptimal atrioventricular (AV) synchrony or AV dyssynchrony, regardless of the pacing mode, after pacemaker implantation. It is an iatrogenic disease—an adverse effect resulting from medical treatment—that is often underdiagnosed.
In other words...Desynchronisation between upper right (Atrium) and bottom right (ventricl) heart chambers. (Electrical misfiring) They cannot change the PM settings anymore to avoid this from happening.
Thanks

The first time I heard the term pacemaker syndrome was in the er about a month ago. While at cardiac rehab, I had an intense run of vtach and ended up in the er. A St Jude tech was in the area and he concluded that my pacer was causing the symptoms of vtach. Evidently these sophisticated devices go through a preset algorithm calculation every 8 hours, in an effort to save battery. Whatever it did, my heart was not reacting well to the adjustments. He turned off that setting and that seems to have corrected that problem. He called it pacemaker syndrome. I have a follow up appointment with my EP next week and hope to get a little more info. I will pass it on if I do. Good luck!
