I have a pacemaker replacement and wire upgrade surgery in 4 days time I've been told to stop taking my blood thinner (eliquis) 3 days before and no diabetic drugs the day of surgery I assume heart arrythmia drugs should still be taken. Are there any vitamins or herbals ie ginger, vitamin c,d, echinacea that should be avoided as well.

DON"T

Please don't take any drugs or supplements without your doctor's okay. There are so many possible effects and interactions, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Thank you

Thank you for the advise I think i'll err on the side of caution and not take any herbals or vitamins till after my surgery and before I start them up again double check with the doctor.
You know you're wired when...
You can feel your fingers and toes again.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
Supplements

Some supplements do interact with heart medicines or other medicines. Echinacea I believe is one of them. Your doctor should be made aware of any supplements you take in general but especially before any surgery.
You can check out drugs.com but do have a conversation with your surgeon.
Good luck with your surgery.
