Pacemaker

I had a procedure last Friday where they checked my bloodpressure, EKG, heart rate, etc.  The nurse told me the numbers which were fine but she also used the expression my pacemaker is pacing????  What does that mean?  I know I go in and out of afib (from time to time) but I don't have symptoms.  It just shows up with the technition reading my results.  Is anyone familiar with that information "pacing".  I am feeling so well I am amazed.  I am 75 and I thought I would need to throw in the towel.  Surprize!  I have a wonderful new burst of Life!

Congrats!!  Your pacemaker is pacing you so your heart rate doesn't go too low.....and you can tell that because you are feeling so well.

Wonderful news!

That simply means when your heart rate slows the pacemaker is sending signals to your heart to beat and maintains a normsl rhyghm for you. Thats why you are comfortable. Relax and enjoy
