I am one week after having my PM implanted after a diagnosis of heart block and bradycardia. I’m a 55 year old female and although I had episodes over the years my cardiologist could not find the issue until the severe onset of symptoms a week ago and I was hospitalized. I have good days and bad days. Today is a bad day with dizzyness and being very tired. Did I expect too much to be feeling back to normal now? I really need to go back to work Monday. Will that be possible?

Do you feel dizzy all, or most of the time, or is it when you stand up from being seated or perhaps turn your head too quickly ?
I found I was tired for the first week because I did more activities after the PM was fitted than I'd been able to do in the months before having it fitted - probably your body needs to adapt to you being.more active.and as much sleep as possible is essential.
As for work - obviuosly it depends on what you are employed to do - but trying to do the minimal of work is essential to most people after any operation.
If you can delay your return to work for as long as possible until you feel up to it, and not because you feel obliged to return, you'll benifit more in the long run and so will your employer.
Hope this helps,
Keith

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.

Hi there! You definitely don't want to go back to work before you feel ready. I didn't go back to work until 2 weeks after my surgery. This gave my implantation site time to start healing, and me time to learn how to deal with the "good days and bad days." (Frankly I'm still working on that.)
Take your recovery as slow as you need to. Discuss it with your place of employment if you need to be out longer than Monday. Also, if you're feeling dizzy you really should contact your doctor. Everyone's "normal" is different; listen to what your body is telling you and take care of yourself accordingly.
