Hello guys, had a pacemaker installed 10 days ago and had to return to emergency room because of swelling of my left arm from shoulder to hand with a dark red color of entire arm. I was diagnosed with a blood clot and put on blood thinner for a week. I was told not to worry that this happens offen. Also I'm having dizzy spells when I stand up quickly. Still weak. I guess it just takes time to adjust. My history of 4 heart attacks with only stints is a long going history of 30 years. Don't know much about these pacemakers. All I can tell y'all is after all my tests I was told that I have only 35% of lower left quad . Reason for pacemaker . I was passing out before then. Thank y'all for listening .

Thrombosis of the subclavian vein following insertion.

Welcome to the club. Sorry to hear of your blood clot following the insertion of PM- it certainly is not a common occurance (1-3% clinically) I just wonder whether in view of your numerous coronary thromboses you have been investigated for blood clotting excess ( Hypercoagulation)? Sometimes this runs in famiies, and can be associated with miscarriages in women. Worth asking about, I think.
Hope you don't smoke? This really would be disasterous.
Hope you make a full recovery. Physiotherapy can help the swelling, and in the UK we have lymphoedema nurses that help with the arm swelling. Many folk end up wearing their wedding rings around their neck as a pendant as they have to be cut off!
Best wishes,
Selwyn

Standing up quickly and becoming dizzy is often low blood pressure. I have it very often. It could be med related ect as well. It's best to go get checked.
Now that I've said what you probably already know, it's been 10 days. It takes time for the assault on your body to heal. I had a leadless PM with almost no recovery time and even I needed a month or so to get comfortable with my new device. Your doctor can also make adjustments if the dizzy spells are still an issue and it may be worth asking about. Give yourself some time and get with your doctor.
